Can't get excited about the competition. My biggest worry is what it will do to assist the spread of Covid, regardless of all the supposed precautions that the organisers have said that they have put in. Ostriches and sand come to mind.yell

Watched yesterday’s opener. Italians looking good. OH isn’t amused, I seem to have booked him into a no electric CL, out in the wilds for Friday nights England -Scotland game. 😁

Never mind, I can WhatsApp him the score......😂

Our TV hasn’t been on at all since Giro finished a couple of weeks ago. Can’t even be bothered to watch news now.

Absolutely awful, made very distressing viewing, had to  turn the TV off.

    Hopefully he’ll make a good recovery. 🤞.

It was a dreadful incident and I must admit, even as a complete neutral, to being very emotional at the time. Thanks goodness he appears to be recovering, how completely only time will tell. And thank goodness for the presence and the skill of the medical staff at the game.

It reminded me of a long ago incident, just after I started going to watch Rovers, when our goalkeeper Bernard Hall suffered an awful career ending injury during a match.

A reminder, if one were needed, of the true position of football in the great scheme of things.

Depends what caused it M, poor Fabrice Muamba had to retire, but thankfully still alive and has sent his best wishes.

It looks, reading the match report, as if the quick action by Simon Kjaer, who was first to him and cleared his airway, may have saved his life.

The lad has been fitted with an automatic heart jump-starter already and he has been released from hospital and visited his team mates. So he appears to be  getting better, but not clear how well he truly is yet,

Good game last night, with Denmark fully deserving of their victory.

Is there a more pedantic, boring team than England. No penetration, more passing accross the field and back to goal lkeeper  than towards opposing goal, playing at walking pace. Add on the theory that the players are worth the obscene amount of money and you weep. Glad they progressed to the next round.though.

Yes, Wales! You obviously didn’t see the first half, nor understand tournament football which is all about qualification. Let’s wait and see what happens in the knockout stages.

Well. . .They think it’s all over. . .It is now☹️. I’ve been enjoying the Welsh performances up until today. Wales didn’t show up other than the bitey, kickey bad tempered ones. The Welsh folk deserve better.

When I saw the thread title I thought I was getting some inside info on when to buy Euro currency for an as yet undisclosed date.

Wales never in the game apart from first 10 minutes and completely played off the park. Very disappointing performance, non more so than their talisman, Gareth Bale. Their overall display was as interesting to watch as submarine racing.

Hats off to Austria for giving their best against Italy, but apart from extra time, I found it a very dull affair. (I wasn't watching it, Mrs ExT had the tv tuned to BBC One hoping Casualty would be shown wink)

Hope you slept well Brian, unlike a lot of French folks laughing

Yesterday being dubbed 'Magic Monday' and it certainly was entertaining.

Question 1: When was the last time Roy Keane smiled?

Question 2: When was the last time Roy Keane spoke with excitement/happiness in his voice?

I will be watching tonight from behind the sofa wink

The difference in style and playing attitude between the earlier group matches and now these knock out games has been staggering. Maybe in future it should just be knock out from the word go (even with more countries, say 32 rather than 24, it would mean less matches overall.)

Can England show the same change in style? Well, given the evidence of recent pre tournament matches, I doubt it. But we live in hope (the eternal motto of the football club supporter! wink)

I really enjoyed yesterday’s games, think it helps when you’re not bothered which side wins.

Will definitely be watching the England game, be interesting to see his team selection. Would like to see a bit more creativity in the midfield, maybe.

Fingers crossed for a good result. 🤞

I'm getting very nervous now! surprised

The "boys in the studio" seem to think we've done ok but our build up is just so slow - we need quicker forward passes.

And with Rice & Phillips both now on yellow cards it's an invitation for the Germans to play on them.

Not quite "squeaky bum time" yet, but heading that way.
