If that is the situation one would imagine the C&CC  don't intend to upgrade the system as that could be costly and require a resumption of payment? There must also be an element of them absorbing some of the costs as their supplier won't be giving it to them for free?

The CMC have always said that they invested probably hundreds of thousands of pounds setting their WiFi  system. I don't think Air Angel was their original supplier. But as I mentioned earlier we have no idea of how much take up there is of CMC WiFi so whether they are anywhere near breaking even is difficult to establish. They have also set their hearts on providing high speed fibre broadband to at least some sites and I doubt that will be cheap so I can see the charging model continuing for some years yet? For many of us it's probably a bit academic as we use our mobile data so Club WiFi only becomes an issue on those rare occasions we find ourselves in a data black hole!

In the past I have also been generally happy. However, when we resumed touring again after the first lockdown, I thought the very full sites off peak and the different demographic using them would cause the system to struggle. As my annual subscription had expired,  I decided   to check my assumption before renewing. Unfortunately my presumption was valid, it was often a real struggle even getting connected to the free CC web site. This has proved the case on multiple sites, both last year and since resuming travels this. Although we have not stopped on one of the fibre upgraded ones to date. As a result I have not renewed my subscription and used 4G instead. Conversely we have used 3 C&CC sites and the Wi-fi has been reasonable on two and good on one. Although admittedly all were small sites, however reasonably full.

Our parish council contacted BT years ago requesting a fibre link to our Village(35 dwellings) they took 2yrs but we now have it. The PC showed BT the majority of villagers would sign up with them. I can’t see how it’s £6k, I left BT when the contract was up👍🏻

Probably worth it for BT but not just not worth it for the lane with so few houses so priced to deter themundecided

I would suspect that might be the case at present but I have not toured since 2020 spring trip was cancelled. I considered that if CMC made its wifi free to use it would would be less attractive to me.

Only uses CCC wifi since it became free and found it poor and generally used 4G.

I mainly use 4 G but will resort to free WiFi if it is any good. I find on the C&CC sites it all depends on how many are using it. Get on early in the morning or late evening and it is perfectly ok.

Problem with it being free is that more use it than if it was paid for.
