Would you mount tv?
Hi all, I have just purchased a trigano 310 and was looking at mounting the TV onto the side of the wardrobe. I'm a bit nervous about this in case it damages anything. Has anyone else mounted their TV? Was it ok to do?

My Senator has an island unit between the kitchen area and the fixed bed area. This unit has a tambour door on each side and was intended to accomodate the old style CRT televisions. I mounted a swing bracket into the vertical end of this unit (bit like a wardrobe wall) with a flat screen TV about six years ago. No problems, and it can be viewed from either side. Being cautious, I restrain the TV while travelling with one of these "dragon's tail" straps.

Thanks all, will remove when travelling, there's a small top it might sit on, but it may be too small, if it does fit there then thats where it will stand, mounting will be my last option. Its a small van so viewing 8t when mounted will be fine, definitely a swivel arm bracket.

I had similar reservations about a TV in our Eriba. I cannot get my head around how sensitive electronics cope with the potential bouncing around in a caravan,
I folded two strips of 25 x 2 mm aluminium to form hooks at the top and drilled holes into them so they fix to the mounting holes in back of TV. Theses hang onto a kitchen bar handle fixed to the underside of an overhead locker. One hole in the underside of the locker allows cable access to tv/12v point I fitted inside the locker.

Our TV is mounted on the wardrobe wall on a secure Avtex bracket and there it sits day in, day out, all year round. Mind you, I suspect a MH could be less bouncy than a caravan.
Our TV is much smaller than the OP's too. Personally, I think 24" is huge for a small caravan but each to their own.

Sorry I can't comment on the suitability of mounting the bracket on the side of your wardrobe, but I'd definitely consider adding a quick-release bracket - the one we bought was https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ergotron-Quick-Release-Bracket-Screen/dp/B000W0ETD2 (from a different retailer actually) because it was mostly metal rather than plastic. We always put the TV back in its box when moving the caravan - I don't like the idea of it bouncing around whilst on the move! Our TV has a 19 inch screen which is fine for us.

Yes, our Avtex bracket is metal rather than plastic.

Like TW’s our TV is mounted on a bracket, in our case it is fixed to the wall of the mid bathroom. The bracket was fitted by Hymer and seems very substantial and is designed to hold the TV while travelling. However, I fixed one part of a quick release slider to the bracket and the other half on the TV. Takes less than a minute to mount / de mount and travels on one of the beds. I would also consider 24 inch large. We only had a 19 inch in our roomy caravan and have reduced to the smallest Avtex in our MH. It only weighs 1.5 kg, so is very easy to slot onto the bracket. One good thing about mounting against a wall is you get much better sound from the rearward facing speakers.

Made a back plate for the mounting we use then bolted through the wall. Weight is then sandwiched and spread on both the interior and exterior sides of the wardrobe wall. Very sturdy and TV slides on and off the mounting. Never travel with it in this position, always stored beneath the mattress. 24 inch would be too large in our van but others I’m sure would feel comfortable with this. Very easy to remove all the mounting and cosmetically ‘hide’ holes when selling the vehicle on.

As I wander around sites, I'm surprised how big some of the TV's are. In caravanning terms, 24" is big. There's the weight and, if off hookup, electricity consumption to consider. In my last MoHo, I had two brackets. One that came fitted in the van and a second that I through bolted to enable viewing in bed(decadent). Although only a 16" Falcon, we removed it for travel. I now have an 18" Avtex that lives in it's own locker on extendable sliding tracks. Can't watch it in bed though

We have a 24" Avtex that sits on a very substantial swivel bracket attached to the panel at the side of the fridge. The bracket has a positive locking mechanism to hold it flat against the panel when the TV is not in use. It lives there all the time - including when we are travelling and the van has now done about 4000 miles without a problem.

we have the same 'slide out' TV system as you do, CY, but ours is a 21" Alphatronics. so no trouble in storage/transportation.
amongst the (many) other things i asked GE to do as part of the last van swap, was to put our 2nd tv on the bedroom wall in the 'new' van.
as it happens, they said it was 'cheaper' to install a new one instead, a nice Vision Plus 18". again, its on a solid bracket and doesnt move.

Thanks all, I would prefer it mounted, we pulled the caravan out of the garage yesterday and had a good look at what to do. I have to get another TV as my son told me its not working properly! I like the idea of it being on a hook, could hang it over the door, something to think about. Will definitely put wood support at the back if we do mount it and quick release.
Just can't wait to get out and try it all

youre right, just sticking to the 'home schedules' can be frustrating.
however, i like a good movie, we really missed the cinema, a thriller/mystery/whodunnit etc. OH likes other stuff and we both like the sport incl football (OH an avid ***** fan) and the golf, for me..
we play cards of a dark evening when in the UK but also like to be selective with the TV by having different sources...Sky, Amazon, with catch up and box sets etc....which also service our European travel.
dont watch a huge amount but like to watch what we like when its convenient for us. we have our Sky box and Fire Stick connected to our phone, which has loads of data so we can always stream a film or the next episode of a series to suit us...
...just more selective these days but obviously need the means to be so.
even with a cheap Fire TV Stick (£30, no sub) you can turn pretty well any TV into a 'smart' TV and, with a bit of data on a phone contract, you can stream all sorts of stuff and be far more selective, watching programs when you want to rather than just the stuff thats on at the time.

Pretty much agree, only news, weather and occasional programme on TV is of interest to us. Maybe SAT TV days are limited what with the increasing SMART and internet ‘TV’ now gaining considerable ground. FreeSat seems to have reached its zenith of new customers a couple of years back according to some. Sky also moving more towards internet/web platform for new customer sales.

BB............Most of that has gone over my head. My Son calls me the Dinosaur and I suppose I do live up to it where technology is concerned. If something new comes out and it is good then I am first in the queue, alas there isn't much I find good that comes out.

I only pay for one but the catch-up apps are brilliant. BBC iPlayer alone is well worth the price of a smart telly. 😀

I hear what you say, TV just doesn't appeal to me. I live in the country, so lock down has not made much difference to me as I go out as a solitary figure and walk over the fields and around the surrounding countryside. I have been into Photography for decades and do get a lot of pleasure taking wildlife photo's. I recently updated my Camera and that gives me a headache with all it's technology.
