Cycling down memory lane !
When we were finally allowed out a few weeks ago ...we waited til the schools went back then set off to lovely Dorset. We love Weymouth, our home for fourteen years before we moved near Brighton to be near our family.
We booked into Mousey Cottage CL tucked away in the village of Nottington, just as you go into Weymouth. The CL is easy to get to and there is another in the field nearby ....so two delightful CLs in the same village both selling gorgeous homemade chutneys and jams, some of which we brought home with us.
We wanted to use our ebikes to get into town and this proved wonderfully easy ! A straight run on cycle paths all the way, and the route takes in the RSPB reserve of Radipole Lake. You can then take any number of routes, around the harbour, along the seafront to Bowleaze Cove, out over the Ferrybridge to Portland....wherever you fancy....all gorgeous !
We were thrilled to find we could cycle the country lanes to all our favourite places.... Upwey with it’s lovely church and the Wishing Well was a delightful ride and covered with spring flowers. Abbotsbury Swannery is a longer ride but still only about ten or twelve miles there and back taking in Langton Herring and Rodden on a beautiful country lane with a glorious view of Chesil Beach and the Fleet Lagoon.
We were there a week and didn’t need to use the motorhome once, cycled every day and spent time sitting around the site enjoying the sunshine and the animals ....rare breed sheep and the smallest horses. We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip out of lockdown and look forward to more adventures on our month in Wales in a few weeks ! The freedom of the open road at last !
