Check the V5C for weights as should be on as kerbweight or mass in service. Your an experienced tower so your vehicle can be the same weight as the MTPLM but not less for safety reasons. try towcar.info and will tell you all the weights and whether it's safe.

And if the V5C does say all is OK have a look on www.whattowcar.com

Just checked and looks like the Korando is 2.0l and don't do a 1.6l so I would go for the Korando.

If I was tugging that weight, I think I'd want a 2.0L AND a heavier car.

The not so new Korando diesel is most definitely a 1.6 however Ssang Yong parent company have gone bust and looking for a new buyer so be aware they may not be around in 2-3 years. They do get good towing reviews although i do err on the side of ‘there ain’t no substitute for cubes’ when it cones to towing.
