Elddis encore 255 engine size
Hi, I am looking at a Elddis Encore 255 7.4 mt long it has a 2.0l . 130 bhp engine, 2017. My concern is weather this engine is powerful enough for the size/weight of the motorhome.
Thanks

As this isn't caravan related, I've moved it into the Motorhome Section.

What is the weight? Size is less of an issue as most motorhomes have a similar windage profile which is the biggest element of resistance to progress. If it is definitely a 2.0L engine then presumably it is one of the new Euro 6 engines. Otherwise it would be a 2.2L Euro 5. It is possible to have the output uprated with a tuning box although best done by a proper company rather than a gizmo off Ebay. You can suck it and see and do it later if the engine is found wanting. Don't forget to advise your insurers if you do.

You don't say if the base vehicle is Peugeot or Fiat but I suspect it's Peugeot. We had a 2017 Peugeot Euro6 2litre 165hp in a 6m 3500kg panel van conversion and it was a flyer. I would not have wanted the lower powered 130hp engine.

I previously owned a Bailey Approach 740 SE on a Peugeot base, I think Elddis use the same base platform. The Bailey had a 130 hp engine and it took us all round the UK and Europe with no problems in terms of performance. I now have a smaller Bailey motorhome with the 160 hp Peugeot engine can't say I have noticed a massive difference from the more powerful engine but given that it has done less than 4000 miles perhaps not run in enough yet!
