UK staycation boom predicted

You can find just as many new experiences in the UK as anywhere else AG. In fact anywhere new will be a new experience by definition? The part about CAMC sites is immaterial, they are just bases to explore the surrounding countryside.
I've had just as many equally enjoyable holiday here and abroad.

sorry to disappoint, but i cant remember the last time i used a CAMC site, probably Breamar and only used that because it was close to Glenshee which was our nearest ski resort when we lived in Scotland
we find lots of new experiences both over there and over here, but perhaps we are too easily pleased
Not planning to wear shrouds any time soon

We like to tour both here and over there and enjoy both. However, we spent a significant part of our savings on a new MH with the express intention of taking it to Europe once a year. The ferry is booked for September, if at all possible we will be taking up that booking and touring as we please for 6 weeks.

But it was your choice not to go away at certain times last year. There was certainly opportunity to do so, as we managed nearly 130 away last year. One just had to grab the chance when it was offered.

Judging by the number of removals, things seem to have become singularly ill-tempered on this thread.
Having "staycationed" last year and it looking like this year will be the same, I found arranging pitches far more stressful than the "turn up and pitch" flexibility afforded by venturing "over there". It seems that this situation will be even more pronounced this year.

Lots of plans in place here, in fact decided today is the day to give MH a good going over inside, so that we are ready to roll when permission is granted.
We have adopted a “what can we do” outlook since last Summer, rather than dwelling on what we can’t do, or where we can’t get. We love exploring new places, new walks, cycle rides, beaches etc..... and have missed our Winter breaks just as much as our Summer ones. I have marked up due dates for our second jabs, we have sites booked not far from home, shall add some nice local CLs to this and get out in the fresh air as much as possible. Looking at short breaks for Mum and Sister as well, utilising our mobile cafe again. Might even consider booking her and Sis into a glamping pod, on a Club Site, while we pitch up not far away.3 -
Judging by the number of cars bearing roof boxes appearing in this area, I guess there are a lot of folk doing staycations already despite the prohibitions🤨

If only we had lots of police officers. Ought to be self funding really......enough sneaks and selfish individuals out there to fund extra officers in some places. Rules lack teeth and the resources to put in place effectively🤷♀️

Ditto..TDA. Always took the 'what we can do' attitude...we have not been given a date for our second jab only that it will be within the 12 weeks as recommended by Pfizer. We are now into our 7th week since the first...so we have kept our bookings local.
That said I doubt very much sites will be opening before Easter and even then may well 'slip' into end of April for self catering..
Will be interesting to watch the PM's briefing on Monday..

Yes, I think you are probably right on your timings of Sites re opening GT, but quite rightly there are other countrywide priorities to get right before opening the holiday starting gate. Not least the schools. I remarked to my Sister yesterday about the lack of children out and about, they aren’t all in school, but not seeing as many out with family on walks or on bikes at the moment.

I bet it’s full of beans on the way home🤣🤣(joke btw)

Only time we ever used a roof box was to go on holiday. To Cornwall. To a cottage. The percentage of cars down there with roof boxes on, and none local plates was and is a holiday time giveaway. Roof boxes in non holiday hotspots don’t tend to be as prolific. 😉

Exactly the situation, TDA. Up country registrations, roof boxes, dawdling while looking for junctions, nervous of narrow roads - it ain't rocket science to work out they're not locals. Obviously certain folk disagree with me but they don't live here.

Don't think our area will be such a nice place to be this season. We usually either try to get away for the school summer hols or plan jobs to do at home. This year I think it will be like the school hols all season. Speaking to my daughter, who lives in an area surrounded by holiday/ camp/caravan/chalet sites, she said that the owners/staff have told her that they are now booked solid from May to October. Obvious really, people want to get out, they are unsure if they will be able to travel abroad so they head for the beaches in this country. As I said though I don't think I would book to be with the crowds. Think we might book a city/town break.

The majority in Cornwall. Vehicles tend to he either nearly new with local plates or old bangers hanging together but, again, locally plated. Even if not a Cornish reg, the vast majority will he Westcountry reg from maybe as far away as Devon or Somerset.
I appreciate things will be very different in the Home Counties but it's fairly easy to spot an incomer here.

Yes, Debs, I've heard the same, although not witnessed it, but it's not 100% effective and the police lack the manpower to check everything and everyone.

I wouldn’t worry overmuch to be honest Debsc, there will still be places locally that will be fine. Experience has taught us that whilst a car park/parking area might be full, if you choose/are able to walk or cycle more that a quarter of a mile from your parked vehicle, humanity thins out considerably. It’s a well known fact that the vast majority of folks never venture much more than 400 metres from their cars. Latest phenomenon in our area is visitor parking that blocks gateways, street access, farm gates in local beauty spots. Meanwhile, we park our car in near empty car parks that are free. But another 300 metres to walk to village with shop and other amenities.

"nervous of narrow roads? or nervous of other drivers on local narrow roads, we have idiots here ,who think they are the only vehicle useing the country lanes, it is safer driving at night on some of our local lanes as lights can be seen approaching
