Replacing microwave

Can you post some pictures of the microwave and it’s fittings? It would be a great help you those who don’t know your caravan.

I am not sure there is a standard installation for microwaves in caravans and motorhomes. With the aid of a torch can you see into the gap under the microwave? This might give you a clue to how it is fixed. If it's in an overhead locker is there any evidence of fixing going through the underside of the locker? With the microwave door open can you lift the microwave? Often it's trial and error!

Is there a chrome/plastic surround? - with our previous 2009 caravan a good 'tug' and the surround came away. The fixing brackets could then be seen and loosened to enable the microwave to be removed. The most nerve wracking bit was then drilling and fixing the brackets into the sides of the replacement microwave.

ours is free standing in a roll top overhead cupboard, there is a warning label saying that you should remove before travelling, we do, just put it on the floor, good idea i thought as if you need to replace all you have to do is find a mwave of similar dimensions, current one came with caravan, still going strong sorry this probably does not help

I replaced the microwave in my motorhome a few weeks ago. It is held in place by screws from under the shelf direct into the metal chassis. Fiddly due to limited space under the shelf to get the electric drill in to drill pilot holes.

Just fitted a 600W Russell Hobbs 14L microwave in my MH. 43x32x22cm., 9Kg, £65 on Amazon

I also fitted a Russell Hobbs. It’s the smallest generally available one that I could find and is the model fitted to all new Autosleepers motorhomes. The Daewoo model which was there before is no longer available and the new model was too big.

If your caravan has a frame frontispiece, with the microwave featured behind it, then the fixing for the frame may come in from the side. On my caravan these were hidden by the hinges of the door next to it. By removing the hinges (taking the door off) this revealed the fixing screws for the frame. once the frame is removed you should be able to see the way the microwave is held in position. In our Lunar this was just a wooden wedge screwed in position.Hope this helps.
