Not a problem if they can get their own residents to back them, and as long as the business case is worth it with the returns , and is not a loss leader for min/nil /return for their money,as would be needed for any commercial company

Is your answer to do nothing? I think most would agree that routes like the NC500 are now exceptionally popular both with UK residents and our chums from Europe. Most seem to agree that the lack of places to stop seems to encourage a lot of so called "wild camping" and it seems, although how widespread I expect we don't know, behaviour by some that not acceptable. The next question is how do we go about tackling the issue? Do nothing and let things get so bad that nobody wants to visit that part of Scotland. Try to introduce some sort of restriction on access to the area, goodness knows how you would do that? Alternatively start to plan how all sides could come together to provide a better experience for visitors and residents alike? This could range from having information available to the whole hog of having dozens of places to stay but more likely somewhere in between. We are where we are and its like coming to a fork in the road, which do we take?

I would think with the amount of "jaw jaw" that has been going on with both district and national goverments about what to do with the "self inflicted visit scotland", increasing problems with it seems , mostly motor caravaners showing no respect or regard for local communities every one is wanting some one else to foot the bill,
And also if what looks like no new ICE vehicles using fossil fuels from 2030 being only nine years away ,as yet it seems not any viable replacement , there will be a need for vast investment in charging infrastucture which "may?" overtake any other non essential? infrastucture,
Or both are combined for the use of all L/Vs and other forms of transport

However my answer would be to nothing myself. It is up to those governing the area and local people to decide what they wish to do as far as I am concerned. In many areas around that route we will take our own lunch and flask of coffee and tea makings as we are unlikely to find such provision when and where we want it. In the rest of the UK we will rely on finding something to suit at around the right time and place. That is why I doubt the great financial benefits

Notwithstanding the proposed termination of the sale of ICE vehicles by 2030, there are still going to a lot of tow cars and MH's on the road 10-15 years after that.

The biggest problem I envisage is that by supplying more stopping off/camping places more M/Hs are going to want to visit the region and, by increasing the numbers on the roads, nullify the very reason for visiting the region....the peace and quiet/away from it all quality that the North West Highlands had.
There will be so much less opportunity to park up and admire the views in soliude.2 -
