Battery Advice

Hi, I have ordered a new 2021 caravan that has an E&P self levelling system fitted. In addition I have a 4WD mover that will be transferred to the new caravan. The caravan will have a solar panel to keep the battery topped up between trips and in winter I remove the battery and keep it charged up at home. We use our caravan regularly, about 2 or 3 weeks a month for 8 months a year and always on electric hook up. I know it’s important to have a good fully charged battery and I don’t want any issues when we arrive on site and need to use the movers AND the levelling system. I would therefore like to purchase a new battery for the new caravan. I have done a little research and I have seen an AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery and I would like to ask whether any club members have any experience of these batteries and would they recommend them or any other battery type that would be up to the job? Many thanks Ian

Check out this >Leisure Battery buying guide< If you still decide to buy an AGM battery make sure your battery charger has a setting for charging AGM batteries.

If your caravan is stored outside so can get some light during winter then there is no need to remove the battery as any bright day will give it a boost, even for an hour or so. I never remove my battery even in winter.

I have a 110AH  AGM and a 100w solar panel. Never touch the battery and even in winter it is fully charged.
