And some of us are happy to use non-facility sites Dave. For me though, at present, if I was visiting a site with facilities, and I had no shower on board, it would be a strip wash. It would not be queueing to use shared facilities. Each to their own.

During our recent 'outing' to club and private sites we found control regimes ranging from rubber bands to simple 'no more than n people at one time' exhortations: all seemed to work. What is puzzling is the continuing use of hand-driers in toilet blocks. These devices are perfect aerosol generators, spraying moisture from what may be inadequately washed hands. Perhaps they should all be switched off.

Ps and prop the doors open

I bet any money you do have a shower in your van. I use many CL’s with no facilities. I have to ask do you ever visit a site and have no shower on board.

All three sites we have so far used all had the handriers out of use

and as you say they are more of a germ "enhancer" than other methods

That isn’t difficult. With the younger generation today. As a Lancastrian it’s tier 3 for me and lots of others.

The ‘young uns’ don’t need to be soft they’re super healthy most of em don’t even realise they’ve had the virus, asymptomatic👍🏻🙂. I have family who are isolating, they have the covid flu symptoms but their 2 kids of 16 & 18 are home but have no signs yet are positive🤷🏻‍♂️

I certainly would not wish to walk to use the toilets in a morning only to fid that I have to queue. embarassed

Also not sure I would use the showers. If using site showers I am a strange cove as I do not like to use a wet shower. I normally go across at 6.30am if I am having a shower otherwise I use the loo in the caravan. I suspect that showers may get busy earlier at present.

The thing is in days of yore we had to put up with all the things that made men of steel and boats of wood. I will tell you what I prefer and it is the luxuries we have today. Call me a mard aris if you want but I wouldn’t like to go back to washing in  ice cold water, no power steering and a gear stick on the car. And I just remembered going into the back yard in the middle of winter to go to the loo and to get coal. Why was the loo alway at the Far end of the yard?

No, but I often visit a non facility site and prefer to throw a towel down on top of our bath mat and have a strip wash in preference to cleaning the shower. laughing

And the print came of the paper as wellsurprised the reason it was at the end of the yard was a left over from the days of midins when they had to be emptied by the men with the wagon a bit like cess pits todaywink

I find it a needless chore Dave. I have been in the caravan club for 39.5 years. It is only the last 15 years that I have had a caravan with shower. About 10 years ago I refitted both my bathroom and WC (no bath now as although OH walks well she had trouble with an old injury in lifting her right leg in and out. It was a petty major job and also associated work outside was required. Whilst the bath and shower over were out of use (about 3 weeks) OH used the caravan shower. I was filthy and would half fill a 42 litre builders bucket outside on the covered patio about 6pm, light the barbie ready for evening meal and have strip wash whilst the charcoal was getting ready.

I find it just as easy to shower as strip wash

Would agree about the hand driers, did you notice the hair driers were in use as well on some sites but not on others. I would have thought they were a risk due to hand contact with the handles.

On the C&CC sites we used  the hair driers were taken out of use.

We were happy with the measures taken by both clubs on the whole, just couple of issues at one site. As we were not happy with them we reverted to using our own facilities.

The latest science would suggest that it would be extremely difficut to catch covid19 from surfaces, i know there is so much "latest science" around it is hard to know what one should do. The commercial site i was on for the whole of September just kept the door pegged back so you could poke your head around the corner and see what the score was before deciding to enter or return at a later time, worked exceptionally well.

No hair driers and the hand driers were those you poke your hands into a slowly withdraw, still not overjoyed with them but at least you dont have people sticking their heads under to dry hair which you sometimes get with the more conventional ones.

Can’t see what all the fuss about really ,as someone has said just follow the rules for each individual site or do as we do and use our own onboard facilities 👍

Wanted to comment that there has been a plus in that those revolting curtains in the showers have been removed and the earth has not stopped turning. Those curtains harbour GOK what bacteria and I hope they have been ceremoniously burnt. Unfortunately the disgusting habit of men (often even older than me) of spitting in the shower has not been resolved.
