Club Week
Calling all members: We're putting the final touches together for our first ever "Club Week". Starting on Monday 12 October, we'll be bringing you the latest information from all of our products and services via a series of daily forums hosted by TV presenter, Club member and campervanner, Matt Allwright.
Matt will be talking to the Club’s Director General, Nick Lomas, about what’s been happening in 2020 (and there’s been a lot!) and looking forward to 2021 and Club plans. If you have a question you'd like Matt to ask Nick, please let us know here by 3 o'clock Friday 2 October ➡️ https://fal.cn/3aEgR

Rowena, I think you need to tell us how and where we can view this.
I've looked in the What's On section and can’t find mention of it.🤷🏻♂️

Hi all, it will be initially hosted on Facebook but then the videos will be uploaded onto YouTube so I can share them on Club Together. I don't have any more info on the event at this stage but when I do I will let you all know.

Thankyou. I look forward to seeing the links here on the club's own website.

Great minds, Meth👍🏻

It could well be that the answers were thought up first, and they are now trying to devise suitable questions. Revealing that The Caravan Club know that their own web-site is so abysmal that it can not be relied upon to cope, and they have to go to such a forum as Face book.

IMHO it is sad that this is the official club website but that the 1st available viewing of “Club Week” by members (and non-members I guess) will be on facebook. I would have thought that HO could have ensured that this was shown simultaneously on all media platforms they will be using.

We don't use face book, but I don't see it as a major issue. It's not as if there is any scope for interaction, like with a Zoom meeting. If they upload it to YT afterwards, I think that is acceptable. We often watch our TV performances as recordings or on catch up in any event. Our local church does exactly the same thing, streams services live on FB and they are available on YT afterwards. As AD put, FB is almost certainly where the majority audience will be.

Of course the questions will be cherry picked and show the Club in the best light. I suspect few, if any questions on the Club's initial reaction to Covid-19, the abysmal speed of this website, the fact they chose not to extend membership for the unusable period (unlike the CCC, National Trust and other such enterprises) and many other things.

What you say might well be the case but if members don't submit questions in sufficient numbers on the important issues your view will become the truth. Personally I think members need to ask more strategic questions which require the Club to take action. Complaining about things like lack of membership extension is easy for the Club to bat to one side and risks shutting out more important questions. As would complaining about the name change as it ain't going back to what it was however many complaints or questions on that subject. One you mention I certainly agree with is the speed and general performance of this forum/website which we need to hold the Club to account on, especially as they mentioned in their accounts that they had invested in their IT capacity which beggars belief a bit!!! That was certainly a question I put forward. I also made a point about being able to book a hardstanding.

Interesting thought by peedee. My thoughts (like some others) regarding “Club Week” are that it is most possibly going to be a scripted informational marketing tool especially being aired at this point in time of Covid problems. Stay safe everyone.

I didnt realise there was so much mistrust with the club

Oh Pete, where have you been😂
In terms of reassurance, commitment to Members, this year has been a roller coaster of a ride. The higher echelons got things badly wrong at the outset of C19, and the impending National lockdown, even producing a video that had to be withdrawn after only a couple of days. It did get a bit better, but another hiccup was the voucher scheme that didn’t, then did have date sensitive vouchers🤷♀️
Credit where it’s due, Sites were re opened, and have been very popular, staff have said they got the support they needed, and most folks appear to have been satisfied with what was on offer, Club had a huge boost from desperate newbies realising that touring in a box was safest option at the moment.
Agree with DK, wants in depth questions, not argumentative fluff......
What spending on improvements?
How is Club finance coping in current economic climate?
Are the staffing levels safe?
Any changes in future if C19 is her for years?

Will there be programs every day on FB if so are they all at the same time of 1500 BST? I assume they will be recorded so will they also be available to watch at times as and when convenient to members?
Some advanced notice of content would be appreciated.

37 questions asked for the AGM and quite a few could be combined together. They seem to cover most of the topics we usually get on here. The interesting thing will be how they are dealt with and whether they are treated seriously? If they are dealt with in depth at least we will know where the Club is heading, probably too much to wish for!!!!
Not sure they have published a list of questions for Club Week but the same applies.

If it turns out to be too much to wish for the Club will be thought of in a very poor light. Interestingly, out of the the most popular 6 questions, 4 of them are about the booking system and relate to the requirement for deposits.
I note the C&CC have published their Facebook timetable for the absence of the NEC show. This starts on the 13th with daily sessions through until the 18th Oct. Recordings will be available on U-Tube.
