Banchory, a great site.
At long last we were able to get away for 17 nights in our caravan at the beginning of August. Our destination was Silverbank site in Banchory, a short haul of little over 90 minutes from our home in Elgin. This site is well known to us and we always look forward to meeting up again with Sue and Gary, the charming and hard working wardens. This site is an absolute jewel but we were amazed to discover that the electrical system was still at fault, despite an obvious considerable expenditure by the club. New power bollards have been installed and a great many are still not in use. The site had a power cut of over two hours during our stay, due I believe, to a fault in the new incomer. I question why the club has accepted this poor standard of work as it is obviously causing loss of revenue.
We were also quite surprised to find the facilities were open for use, despite the worries of Covid 19. During our stay, the city of Aberdeen, less than twenty miles from Banchory, was placed in lockdown. With the majority of modern caravans having washing and toilet facilities on board, we question the decision of the club in opening the toilet blocks at their sites.
However, once again we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Silverbank.
