Disabled facilities
I wonder,
Given the excellent adaptations the club has introduced for the use of one in, one out use of the washing and loo facilities to avoid contamination has the club considered the additional pressure on the disabled facilities on site?
I say this because, since the restrictions, so many more people have access to the disabled facilities. RADAR keys are readily available for pennies and many seem to be buying them.
While I appreciate that not all disabilities are visible, I do object to having to wait outside the facilities while a young bikini clad teenager comes out, gets on her bike and cycles off. Meanwhile my poor husband has missed the calling, I I am left in the position of clearing up rather than facilitating a ‘normal’ visit.
Has the club considered this as a problem? Are you looking at alternative arrangements for access to disabled facilities? I am not asking for much. There is one facility available per site and they are now becoming inaccessible due to others’ desire for a quick wee without having to queue.
I personally queue if I have to use the loo even though I could quite easily abuse the system.
An additional key would be an ideal solution.
Is it me?

Don't know if it has become a large problem. I am not classed as disabled but I do have some mobility issues. Worse on some occasions than others. I did get a Radar key last year. I only used it every few days to shower and beard trim as I have balance problems. At that time there were no problems on the half dozen occasions that I used it. I would not dream of abusing he system.

This was discussed the other day, Arty. While I have every sympathy with your situation, I can’t see a way around it. The whole point of the Radar key is to provide universal access without having to obtain a special key or code in different places. If the club went back to the old way of issuing their own keys, what would there be to stop able bodied people requesting a club key? The wardens did not and should not question folk as you why they need a key so they would be handed out to whoever asked and you'd be back to square one.
The root of the problem is the unregulated issuing of Radar keys - something that threads such as this help perpetuate, unfortunately.

No it is not you. i emailed both clubs when announced that they would be opening sites about the disabled facilities and was told they will remain closed as more cleaning would be required, How pathetic is that. I cannot shower my wife in a caravan as she needs to sit and me to wash her so her, chair and me in a caravan shower is impossible. That ended our 2020 season without even starting it and who knows how long this will continue, maybe even have to miss 2021 as well. Clubs could ask for proof of disability and be issued with another key with a deposit payed but the legallities would come into force I think.

While I appreciate your concerns, the use of another key as you suggest would surely make the radar system (which is a national thing) redundant? It's beyond our control who has access to the radar key system I'm afraid. Thing is how do you know that the "bikini clad teenager" doesn't have a disability? It's a tough one which really doesn't have an answer.

No they could not ask for proof of disability. That would be a breach of privacy. What sort of proof would you expect them to want when disabilities are not visible? Should a stoma patient strip off in reception?
As with Arty, I sympathise entirely with the difficulties you need to cope with but you've not thought this through, LL.
Btw, it certainly seems CAMC disabled facilities are open, hence Arty's post.
