Tyre Pressure Pump and Gauge

With our relatively new to us caravan needing 65psi I need a new pump and my old manual gauge won't go that high either. I assume any new pump will have an integrated gauge.

I have looked at the RAC900 and some Bike Tyre pumps which will do the trick. Big difference in price and weight. I want to take it with me when we go off on tour. Any recommendations and  advice appreciated.

I've just bought the RAC 900 (only arrived yesterday) for the same reason.  I had been using an Aldi rechargeable one but that gave up the ghost after only a few months and I couldn't be bothered to hunt for the receipt to send it back.

The RAC look very well made - and a serious bit of kit.  Haven't used it in anger yet but I see no reason why it shouldn't be fine. It is quite compact and comes in its own carry bag - ideal for chucking in the car.

Yes, it is a bit pricey, but since I had an Amazon voucher to go towards it, it softened the blow a little!

Faced with similar problems of the more normal car type 12 VDC pumps if working out of the box, given a bit of wear failing to achieve the van's 65 psi, I went a few years back for the RAC 900.

Durability issue well sorted, it however is a bit of a lump to carry camping and needs direct access onto a battery, taking far high current than 12 V sockets can cope with. It now lives at home for the multi wheel re-pumping tasks, not the adding a couple of psi every so often needed when camping. If ever a serious inflate was ever needed I have Green Pennant to look after those major matters.

For that out camping minor addition task I use with very good effect a bike track pump, an old version of Joe Blow Sport.

This really is first rate and way capable of adding a couple of psi to get back to 65 psi on our caravan. There is no carrying batteries or getting the cables to one to power it, where needed. It also helps we are cyclists and it plays a dual role.

By the way I am kissing four score years, and find the required effort no real sweat, maybe doing this sort of thing is part of why I still can?

Best pump I`ve found is the Michelin Programmable Superfast SUV Inflator £75 in Halfords its a mains powered pump you can get a programmable one but its so fast its not really worth it. Quite heavy but really well constructed max is 80 psi. I carry a Ring Pump as an emergency pump and keep the Michelin at home. Also have Tyrepal another excellent product which on long continental journeys is reassuring as it will indicate any slow puncture often a prelude to a "flat"

Thanks Ocsid. Decided to buy one of these today. Didn't fancy the weight and hassle of the RAC900 but liked the reviews it got.

Shame about your Aldi rechargeable, I have one and find it an excellent bit of kit. Set the pressure and it cuts out when you reach it, you can even plug it in to carry on if the battery goes flat. If I was you it would go back you don’t need a receipt as no one else sells that make. I am sure it was not long ago when they were on sale and they should know when.
