Caravan floor Delamination
I’ve just repaired my 3 yr old
lunar clubman caravan delaminated floor.
Here is a few tips on the best way to attempt this problem
1. Check under the van for any bulging/ sagging in the affected area, mine had a good 2cm of play. Support the affected area to take the bulge out. I used a piece of wood and used a bottle Jack then level the van up, any holes under the van need to be taped over to stop any leakage.
2. Cut the Vinyl floor covering in the affected area and peel back.
3. Cut 2 pieces of cardboard 11cm x 11cm this will give you 150cm diamond shape
4. Mark out the floor centrally over the affected area place the diamond shapes on the centre line and mark out the four corners & continue marking the affected area in a diamond pattern.
5. Tools required : Drill, 8mm drill bit, Philips screwdriver, hammer and sharp chisel. Also rags for cleaning up any surplus mix during filling the holes. ( clean as you go).
6. Mark the drill bit so it only goes through the top layer of the plywood 5mm, drill all the marked holes. Use the Philips to push through to the bottom layer of plywood. Count all the holes that need filling.
7. Order your delamination kit (2 part low odour epoxy adhesive) I got mine from eBay.
(I had 35 drill holes to fill & needed 2 full kits to complete the job, I spoke to the supplier and they said there was no way of knowing how much you’d actually need to do the job
8. Mix your filler & inject into the holes & plug as per instructions.
Now you are on your way to having a solid squeak free floor.
Make sure the temperature is below 15 degrees as per instructions .
Leave for a good 24 hours before cleaning off the raised pegs, then relay floor covering.
Good luck. I hope this helps.
