Only two grass without awning pitches on the site plan, not much choice of pitch if you choose that option.

Looks like the first problem has reared it's head.

News from Moreton in March site. People using the toilets have taken all the rubber bands denoting what space is available . No bands, no entry. They've walked away with them, (that's the polite version )

A lot of people will be standing with their legs crossed

I started to read this thread but found it hard to follow with so many gaps in it.

What I did gather on here was a lot of criticism about people driving through the night and arriving at campsites in Cornwall very early in the morning . But by the amount of traffic we have had coming down here in the daytime today those people who drove overnight last night made the right decision.

And people have driven to Cornwall overnight every summer weekend since I was a boy. My grandfather did it. Some sites in Cornwall have overflow areas where tired arriving drivers can park up and wait. Some sites open their cafes and serve breakfast. And some sites today, being completely empty, were glad to welcome their first vsitors for many months, and simply guided them in with a smile as soon as they arrived.

This is probably one of the previously unknown unknowns which could lead to confrontations between campers.!

I suppose some are daft enough to get worked up.

I suspect that they are a bit like miners tallies.

If you don't make a system foolproof it wont work. If campers forget to take the key with them to the toilet block as I have often witnessed, how do you expect them to remember to replace a rubber band to its original position when finished with.

Yes the moderation could have done with a lighter touch!

Opening day seems to have gone quiet well although there does not seem to have been the rush that was predicted?

This must be a wind-up story?  Why,, especially under the current circumstances, would anyone queue for public toilets when they have one of their own?  Or are they all in campervans without them

could be a wind up, but many posts ago when this sort of routine was muted, i did suggest that something like this may happen especially if you have lots of children on site who just forget to return the bands, or even older people who take a band have a shower for e.g. and leave the band on the peg undecided

    This has gone off topic.

I would really like to know how the safety measures are working on the sites before we decide on our first visit to a site. I especially would like to hear from anyone staying on Ferry Meadows site.

No idea how this system is working but I hope somebody is sanitising the rubber bands

I would not be using the showers personally. If I did though I would have no concern about sanitising of the bands. I would take them into the washroom and was both the band and my hands thoroughly in soap and water.

Thanks for answering the point about the rubber bands, sounds like a good system. Is there sanitising gel at the taps, waste points, bins etc ?

    • Is the Caravan Club going to allocate all pitches on arrival from now on?
    • As the toilet blocks will not be open on the Welsh sites, will there be a reduction in the pitch fees?

From what has been said in various places on this website, the answers are "no" and "no".

If so, I do hope they are bolted down.

As for service points ,i would  not expect the need for sanitizer? ,we are responsible (hopefully?)enough to assist in our own well being when useing any public facilities , as in taking our own ppe when attending the service pointsundecided

Ps I think the site staff have enough extra work to keep members safe with the facilities blocks (i would still take your own sanitizer wipes) without having to keep checking ,and refilling hand sanitizers on service pointssurprised

    From ianH post

The main difference to ‘normal’ is that the toilet blocks and other facilities are restricted in capacity. To go in the toilet block you take a wrist band (in milton, in a bowl) and replace it when you come out. No band, no entry.
