Please could someone tell me how do you add your profile picture after you have downloaded flash?  I have looked everywhere in FAQ and discussions but for the life of me can't find out how to add it.

Thank you

Karen

Because Adobe Flash is open to attacks most, if not all browsers will block it by default even after being downloaded.

Microsoft Edge browser blocks it, click on the security lock in the address bar of your browser, then Site Permissions, then look for Adobe Flash, then Allow it.

Chrome browser blocks it by default, click on the security lock in the address bar, you should see Flash, allow it.

Other browsers or operating system I don't know, but because Flash is old hat now and prone to attacks you will have to allow it in your browser settings somewhere.

Once allowed and in 'Your Profile' you should see something similar to the second picture.

I've come to the conclusion that it's impossible with the current web site.

I have tried numerous times on several devices with no joy.

I can add a photo to a discussion, as I have done here just to test it. However I cannot add a profile picture. The message I get is,

Upload failed. Must be a valid image (jpg, gif, png, bmp)

I have tried photos in all the above formats. Good luck!

It's nothing at all to do with adding photos to posts.

We've explained the process as best we can and, as you can see, it is achievable.

When did you last change your profile picture?

I have been in touch with the technical dept. via email and still had the same result. Their answer was to email them the picture I wanted to use along with my username & password and they would try to do it.

So I challenge you to change your profile picture and I'll be impressed.

There you go 'con', just changed it. You will see its different now from the couple of posts up where I added my two photos of my previous profile.. If you can't see it then clear your cache.

Well done! I am impressed. You have proved it can be done, and I mean that sincerely.

Just wish I could do it. I have tried on an iMac Catalina and a Windows 7 laptop and as previously mentioned the tech team couldn't help.

Maybe you should be given a job with the tech team!

Thank you for proving it can be done.

No problem, obviously I know it can be done but I also know that others on here find it nigh on impossible. I am using W10 but there must be anomalies somewhere on this site that is causing the failures to upload Profile images. My image by the way is a JPG, 245Kb and 1024 x 768 in dimension.

I think there has been a problem uploading profile pics from some devices for a long time. Most people had a visible photo and then these were lost, I can't remember whether it's actually device related/programming fault but it looks like it hasn't been resolved. If the tech team have offered help this might be the only solution at present.

Agree brue. This website has never been fond of Apple devices, although it has been better lately. I cannot change my avatar on my iPad, have to use the Macbook, which is a much older device. A couple of weeks ago, I actually had two profile pictures running. If I went into my profile I got Maximus the Gladiator, but my avatar was still showing Choccy Dog. Then all of a sudden (couple of weeks later) it righted itself.🤷‍♀️

Thanks for the help. I have tried on my iMac running latest Catalina os

Windows 7 laptop with IE 11 and Chrome

Windows 10 laptop with IE 11 and Microsoft edge

None of these work for me,  I've been beaten!

In the great scheme of things its not that important.sealed

Have you got Adobe Flash Player installed? That is the key component.

Thank you Metheven.  The option to change the photo was stopped because of pop up blockers.  I followed your instructions and it appears to have worked on my profile.  I assume there is a delay in it showing on here but I did manage to up load it.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Glad you got there Mileo. It'll either be an inbuilt delay or the need for each of us to clear the cache for the pic to show.

    Hopefully it will correct itself.

It's odd, its showing in the my profile at top of main web page i.e. "profile information" but not showing in the Club Together my profile and in discussions.   If I click on edit profile in that Club Together it takes you back to profile information arggh!!

Please let me know if I need to do anything else.

I have just looked at your profile and I can't see a photo, it just shows a small square indicating an upload issue.  Have you cleared your cache to see if it still shows after that?

I've cleared my browsing cache and restarted the computer but have the same issue.  I'm not sure what the square was on the profiel photo it has been there ever since I logged in.

Same as before it's showing in the my profile at top of main web page i.e. "profile information" but not showing in the Club Together my profile and in discussions. If I click on edit profile in that Club Together it takes you back to profile information

After allowing Adobe Flash and changing my Profile pic, I always block Flash again. If any site needs it (very few now) my browser will let me know.

If in 'My Profile', you can see your piccy and have saved your profile before coming out of it, then as others have said clear your cache and then refresh the page but give it all a few minutes whilst the cogs turn on CAMCs servers.

I use MacBook Air running OS Sierra 10.12.6.

There is no option to add a profile picture on my Profile page. I have tried installing Flash but ended up with Yahoo taking over my browser and all sorts of other rubbish on the MacBook. After spending hours getting rid of the rubbish I decided that it's not possible to upload a profile picture.

As someone said earlier it's not the end of the world but surely in this day and age it shouldn't be that difficult?

I was however, able to upload the below photo to this comment.

Are you using the 'profile' at the top as per my link on page 1, FG?

However, Flash is essential. Metheven explained how to get it.

ForestGate, there have been two, no three, if you count the latest "Catalina" major operating system upgrades since Sierra. Whilst I haven't rushed to install the latest one, I'm running 10.14.6.

Not that it will help with your mugshot on this decrepit website.

I have not seen a profile photo appear on the OPs posts, it is still a problem for some, clearing the cache has no effect.

I'll attempt a change myself to see what happens, speaking as one who got stuck with a photo for longer than I wanted...

Hi TW: Yes, followed your instructions but don't see anything different. I've installed Adobe Flash again but still nothing.

    Conclusion is: it don't work!

Ah well, enough time wasted.. Onwards and upwards..!

FG there is definitely something wrong with the system as I've now switched to my Android phone and my profile pic has not updated and everything is extremely slow to load.

FG - well, we tried for all we were worth 🤷🏻‍♂️

Brue - in another thread I saw your new avatar pic on my Android phone but here, on my iPad, I’m seeing the old one. No doubt it'll change if I can be bothered to clear my cache again.🙄

Yes, I'll have to clear the history on my phone to see if that reveals all! (Hopefully?) I don't think the avatar system has ever been easy to use or functioning reliably across all devices.
