Hypothetical question re booking
Hello, Hypothetical question re a booking I have got in a few weeks time, it may get to the point that due to sheer workload that I cannot make the holiday, so if I cannot go, can I set the unit up and leave my wife there with my mother ? neither of whom are members, or leave my mother and step father there in my unit with their car ? neither of whom are members, the pitch would obviously be paid for in full by myself, is this ok ? or if not ok can I still leave the wife and/or my mother/step father and pay for extra 'non member' premium ? I cannot find any guidance on the site ( I am not saying that it doesnt exist I am just saying that I cannot find it).............any help would be greatly appreciated, I will not know until a day or so before hand if work will indeed run into the holiday and therefore I would rather not cancel inside the 72 hr timeframe but merely use the booking in good faith, pay the pitch fees and somebody get some use out of it. Thanks.

If neither your wife/mother/step father are members they can't stay on a 'members only' site if the member isn't present. They could, of course, take out separate membership.
If on a 'non-member' site, they would need to pay the non-member fee.
I'm assuming from your wording that your wife isn't a joint member with yourself.

Isn't that rather pedantic?
Look at the following the situation of a husband and wife living at the same address:
husband joins on line, books and arrives on site with wife, pays for the week. He then gets a phone call that his mother is unwell and needs to return leaving wife behind to stay in the caravan.
Are you saying this is against the rules if he has not mentioned his wife at time of joining?

One membership for everyone
A partner and children under 18 are included for FREE
The wife is therefore a member and as you say has paid for the week. In fact there could be a refund for the time the husband is away.

Member only sites are only for Members.😁 OPs wife is theoretically a Member, assuming they both live at the same address. All that requires is another card sending in wife’s name, free of charge. But in laws cannot stay, unless they join.
Anyone can stay on a Non Member welcome Site, paying the appropriate fee. Discounted for any Members.
So it depends on the Site.

Why would a wife not have her own card?
We have had separate cards all the time
,A non member cannot stay on a members only site at any time
,Relations who are not members want to use the C/van they can join in their own right ,or pay the non members per night ptch fee

The OP said his wife was not a member - not me. If he's taken out membership in his own name then his wife is included in the membership fee and should therefore have her own card in her own name but that isn't apparent from his post.

My wife automatically was issued a card although she never used it as the doesn’t use the caravan on her own or tow. However, last year I transferred the card to my son who lives at home as he has started using the caravan with his girlfriend.
As others have said, you can purchase additional cards if they live at your house. It is something I might consider if my brother in law and wife come to stay for a few months whilst their house if extended...they could then use our van

So, when you join the club and fill in your personal details, unless you put down your wife's/ partners name as a joint member then she won't be (the op states she isn't). To save any confusion, phone membership services and add your wife on your membership (it's free), she can then stay on site in your absence as a member. The rest of your family can then stay (and pay) as her guests. Hope this helps

I have been a member for 5 years now, joined in my own name, only ever had one card in my name only, my wife does not drive therefore she cannot get away on her own anyway, so what would be the point in having a card in her name ? if she is included on mine as she lives in the same house then she would not need one anyway, so if I was to to leave her there with my card which clearly says 'MR' on it what would be the ramifications if she was asked to produce it ? ..........why does everything have to be so complicated when it is not needed.............as per usual I assume some scams have become apparent over the years and these rules are designed to circumvent them...............or they are just designed to be as difficult as possible ? we are members of both of the two big clubs and I have dropped my wife and my step son off at numerous sites with the so called 'friendly club' then left to go to work and picked them up at the end of the week ................no problems, no questions asked, I drive her there set them up, leave them then go to work for the week, and they get a weeks holiday.
But aside from that can I pay the non members fee and leave my mum and step father there ? if I cannot make it ? bearing in mind that 7 nights at £12 per night would be more expensive than them actually joining themselves, if they joined would they need a card each ? or would my mum be able to let her husband stay on her card ? (assuming they lived at the same house, which they do) can they register the same unit as mine ? what about the car registration number if that is possible? ........its a minefield this is ...........and not designed for our convenience I am sure !.............gimme some convaluted brexit nonsense any day of the week !

You could, but as you say, them joining would be cheaper! I think they can join on the site, if you do not want to do it ahead of time. JK could maybe confirm that?
However, as they are at your address, could they not be added as family members, which is much less expensive? You may have to ring HQ to do that, but since you will be ringing to ask for a card for your wife, why not ask then?
You might as well ask for a card for your wife, and get a card each for the parents, as the cards do give some discounts in places and on some things, so good for each to have their own card.

It doenot cost anything for your wife to have her own card My oh does not drive but has her own card
And has quite often in the past booked in if there is a queue so i can move the outfit if needed
As you say it would be cheaper for your inlaws to be members in thier own right just have them to have their own seperate cards it is not dificult and save you it seems getting "stressed "
and if you all live at the same address join them as family members,
The registration number is only required as a match when booking and arriving on sites

Just get your wife a card as a free family member, AW, which will mean a member is on site if you’re not there. It’s not necessary for her to be able to drive to become a member and would save all this.
You may be better off speaking to the Membership Dept to get the facts from the 'horse's mouth'.

KjellNN - I think Andrew is referring to his father living at the same house as his mother and not with him. I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong.
Andrew - You haven't yet said if you are intending to visit a 'members only' or 'non-members welcome' site which makes a difference as to whether your parents could be left on site without a member present.
Andrew, I still think that you'd be advised to get a card in your wife's name (which wouldn't cost you anything) and would solve all your problems if you can't stay with her. I think a member of site staff would be entitled to query why a female, if asked to produce a membership card, was carrying one in the name of a male.

- Wife lives in same house as you, get a free card in her name, go to work happy and leave her.
- Mum and stepfather live in your house, get free family members cards in their names, go to work happy and leave them.
- Mum and stepfather live somewhere else, get one to join the Club plus the other named person a card for free, go to work happy and leave them.
- Stepson can now be added free to either household now (age limit may apply (unsure)), go to work happy and leave them all to party.
