Dog friendly taxis in Chester - please

Anyone know of any taxi companies that allow dogs? It’s often hit and miss when we’ve been to cities in the past and sometimes depends on the drivers not the company.

Whilst here, any recommendations on real ale pubs too, and dog friendly of course? 😀

Are you staying on a Club campsite whilst visiting Chester? If so I often find reception has a lot of good information on taxi services from the site. There are a couple of members who live near Chester who might be able to help.

Can’t really help with a dog friendly Taxi, you could try Kingcabs they are the biggest with over 500 cars I understand, 

as for Pubs look up Brunning & Price they have a number of pubs around Chester, all Very dog friendly & serve an excellent selection of ales & great food,
the Grosvenor Arms in Aldford is our favourite!

Brunning and Price also own The Architect which can be found in Chester itself, overlooking the Racecourse. They tend to try to serve a variety of local beers and all of the ones we have been in are dog friendly.

Getting a taxi can be a nightmare with a dog, We were deposited in Hatfield train station once as our train out of London terminated early. Our caravan was in Welwyn Garden City. It took 22 cabs before we found a person willing to help us. It was late, I'd never been there before and the situation was unexpected. I needed a taxi. The taxi driver who took us advised that none of the regulars in that station would take a dog for religious reasons. I don’t know the legality of a hackney carriage refusing to take a dog, but I  just wanted to get home. 

However in Stourport once, we watched the boating regatta and found it to be late to get home safely. I went to a pub bouncer to explain our situation. He got us a taxi. But it seems certain religions/ethnicities  have a real issue with dogs and just won't help you no matter how desperate. 

The taxi companies where I live all take the dog, but I always let them know when I book. You really need to do your homework these days.

Moderator Comment - I am reluctant to edit posts but I felt your original wording as a little near the mark so I have changed it little so not to offend. On your point about the requirement to carry pets, it is my understanding is that it is only against the rules to refuse a Guide and other help dogs. Not all bus companies will accept the general carrying of dogs. You last comment is sound advice.

The Bunbury Arms is close to the Chester site, but the Chester Fields Country Pub (in Bridge Trafford) would be my choice for dining and ale.

Not sure if either are dog friendly, both are currently closed at the moment, but a call to either would let you know if they accept dogs and they're probably able to get you a taxi too.

I see Brunning & Price have taken over Rake Hall Which is next door to the Chester Fairoaks site, due to open in the autumn 

I suspect it will be very popular with people visiting Fair oaks
