Lunar Clubman 2010 SE water in shower light
Hi all, hope everyone is keeping safe and well.
We haven't been to our caravan storage since beginning of March due to access. We discovered today that there was water in the shower cubical light. When releasing the light from the ceiling approx 1/2 pint of water came out with it. We have checked the roof but there does not appear to be any obvious cracks where the water has come in.
Any ideas how or where the water is coming from? Can we take the ceiling down easily to trace the leak or is this a dealer job?
Having popped our fingers into the hole where the light fits in, you can feel the chipboard is damp to touch but not saturated.
Thanks in advance for any ideas and help.

It could be lack of insulation in the ceiling cavity allowing condensation to form but I would have thought this would have been noticed in previous years in a 10 year old van. Alternatively, it could be a leak through a roof seam or similar.
It won’t be chipboard in the ceiling as that's far too heavy but you should have been able to feel if insulation is present.
Whatever the cause, it needs attention to prevent the van deteriorating. I suspect, if you have to ask the question, you need a dealer or mobile man who knows how the van is put together.

It has to have got in somewhere and found the lowest point to try and escape. The angle the caravan is parked might be a starting point to eliminate some possibilities. It has to be something to do with the roof which means a roof light, extractor fan or even the TV aerial.

In your Caravan Shower toilet cubicle is a roof vent. That vent is the most likely source of water ingress from where water can move to your light. We have just being on a trip and during and after heavy rainfall I found water dripping into the cubicle. Suggest you reseal that vent with a prescribed Caravan Sealant. Hope this helps.
