Severe damp in 11 months?
We have a Bailey Unicorn Seville 2011 which we purchased from a dealer last July.
It came with a full service & no damp/ within acceptable limits.
Today it has been for its annual service by a AWS approved recommended person and we have had a shock, it has 60%/70% damp in various areas of the floor and will cost over £2000 to put right.
The technician said that the last service did not ring true and he thinks it is historic damp.
We are new to Caravanning that’s why we chose a dealer but we are feeling now that we may have been ripped off, it is under warranty but it only covers up to 8 years old for damp, we have called the dealer who denies all responsibility.
Is it possible to have this much damp to appear in less than 12 months?
Thank you

We had a Unicorn Valencia and I am fairly sure that it was 2011, the first year of manufacture for the Unicorn range. Sorry to say this but there were big problems with damp on this model. Ours went back to the factory twice. We traded it in for a motorhome and subsequently learned (long story) that the couple who bought it had a £5000 repair for damp and the dealer warranty only covered £1000. This couple were not advised by the dealer to transfer the Bailey warranty which was still in my name so not valid. The problem is the lack of sealant in the floor to side panels and poor factory quality control. So, essentially, it had major repairs three times.
You probably don’t want to hear this and it is just my opinion but from our experience this is not an easy problem to fix permanently and I would seriously consider trading it in for a later model.
