Cirencester Park access road
We were out walking near Cirencester today so thought we'd divert to wander past the club site to see how things looked.
Well, not sure if this is good news or bad, but the access road has been diverted..
So - good news - for anyone with a pothole aversion - it's been resurfaced and the tarmac is now billiard table smooth (apart from the inevitable speed humps!)
Not such good news - instead of a long straight road with plenty of wide stretches to allow for units to pass it is now very narrow and winding, with large boulders each side at the entrance and just a couple of small lay bys for passing, so heaven help you if you meet another unit coming in or out.
I can't see any practical alternative to the "off by 12 and no arrivals before 1" arrangement. We'll just have to wait and see - well, not us obviously!

The other thread is now broken though. I can't get in at all, server errors every way I try and open it.
These are the photos though. I saved them.😀

Same thing here - I can now see the heading but can't read it at all because of server errors - don't suppose you're any good at fixing them, Husky?
Edit - thanks for posting the pictures Steve. I know you're familiar with Cirencester too. Take my word for it, the road is not as wide as those make it look!

What's the point of those large rocks? If they are to stop people going on the 'grass' then surly a small kerb would be better than those outfit destroyers? (unless they are made of foam and painted to look like rocks)

Not sure how one would cope arriving at 2pm and meeting two MHs going out for the afternoon!
The access road is shared with the college and the tennis and cricket clubs too! Can't begin to imagine what it's going to be like on a summer Friday afternoon!

That is certainly not good news, an accident waiting to happen.
Perhaps someone looking for rockery stone might make off with them one dark night😉

I’m a fulltimer locked down on this site and needed to take the van out this afternoon. The rocks are bad enough at the best of times but this afternoon 2 of them had been pushed onto the edge of the actual tarmac. I managed to squeeze past on my way out with 2 inches to spare each side (8m tag axle van), but coming back in the angle meant I had to push 2 rocks on the other side over in order to get by. The rocks overlapping the tarmac are heavier than they look and I couldn’t move them. These rocks need to go!

Looking at the second set of photos it would seem where as you used to turn into the old potholed road and could see right the way down it, if anything was comming. Now there is a double bend to get onto the new access and there does not appear to be anywhere to pass.

If it helps, here is a plan of the access road I drew for another forum.

It's obvious really....it's to deter people from using the site....simples

That was my first thought too, PD. But I think Steve is correct in that the old road now leads directly into the college grounds and it certainly appeared to be permanently blocked off at the end nearest the site. I guess it's OK for the small number on site at the moment but this is a 200+ pitch site, often fully booked, and I can foresee problems at peak times!

The old road is now blocked off at both ends with earth banks. Halfway down the new road there is a double gate that gives access to the college car park. If the routine remains the same as before, coaches enter the campus from further along the Stroud Road, deposit or collect pupils, then exit via the access road. The coach drivers are just going to love that S-bend by the zebra crossing, if indeed they can get round it at all with those ludicrous rocks in the way.
This morning we had to go out early with the van and a large rock had been deliberately rolled over onto the road. Easy to tip over from the upright position but impossible for two of us to lift it up to roll it back! I had to get out of the van to guide it through - and it was a tight squeeze. It is all getting beyond a joke!
