Is Facebook of use for caravan or motorhome owners

MickyA, if it's just information on CLs you should join the FB's CL Booking Group. There is lots of good recommendations on there, and it gives you the ability to ask about CLs in a specific area that you might want to visit. Of course it's only limited those CLs that are members too, but has worked for us when planning our Spring trip.

Interesting reading. I have occasionally tried FB, but found it far from easy to use, maybe an age thing? I'm no longer 21! But having suggestions of sites, other than CAMC sites, removed from it is ridiculous. Doesn't convince me of the need to join the CAMC there

Sadly, Mikey's not a club member, Nellie😟

Hi Bill
Great to here you have found CAMOGG group to be friendly & helpful.
Nice to see some CT posters also posting in our group.
For anyone thinking of joining us:
The group has 12,600+ members of which there are quite a few which are off-grid sites, we also have suppliers of off-grid kit starting to give members of the group discounts.
We put the posts into "topics" so you can view all the posts say about "inverters" etc. Also a good files section with lots of info!

Thank you Nelliethehooker for giving CLBOOOKING a mention (I also a Admin on it)
The group is currently 11,400+ strong and is allowing members to have direct contact with currently 353 CL owners which are also members. It's great to hear that some members have stayed on their first ever CL after joining the group.
Remember you must be a CAMC (Caravan & Motorhome Club) member and answer all four questions - if you would like to join the group - to join the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/CLBooking/
As a member of the group you can access maps & some filterable sheets for CLs with fully serviced pitches, all the Off-Grid CLs, all CLs in the group, CLs with online booking, CLs with toilets/showers, CLs near cycle routes and much more.0 -
Hi Bill, thanks for the comment re CAMOGG. The FB group works really well and is very friendly without the sniping of some groups I could mention but won’t. I had no Facebook account until meeting up with JOHN to come to the assistance of off gridders and off grid sites which were being sadly neglected by CAMC and ask as I might for a proper article, (3 times) no decent and in depth look at MODERN Off Grid caravanning ever came about. Off grid these days is a totally different beast to what it was even 10 yrs ago. However, it is not considered by the club and certainly not promoted and I think we know why. That is why 12,700 came to CAMOGG - to be with similar minded people and to get the information that they so obviously sought. We have had people who have never been off grid who are now always off grid! The information is second to none and we are growing still. 🍸here’s to the future!!

Pleased to assist members to find CLs, especially those that have not used them before.
Ted, can you please explain how MichieA is a member of the CC Booking Group as he/she admits to not being a CC member? If he/she had previously been a club member and not renewed his/her membership would he/she be excluded from the group?

Or does it show how easy a non member can join without being checked? Online security needs looking at maybe?

or does it show that perhaps some are still club members while saying they are not?
Also there is the puzzling thing about non CAMC members using CLs?

I'm sure data protection laws would prevent that but there is nothing to stop the group organisers requesting a membership number. Where they go from there is anyone's guess.🤷♂️

Hi Nelliethehooker
Thanks for assisting members to find CLs
It’s not Ted here but John (I am also Admin on CLBOOKING group) and can answer your query
We have no way of checking CAMC membership on CLBOOKING we have to trust that the person will be honest!
The members are asked 4 questions, the first of which is - are you a CAMC member if they answer this as Yes and answer the other questions they are approved if they answer NO etc they won't be approved to join the group.
If were find out a member of the group is not actually a member of CAMC then they would be removed0 -
I always give my membership number when booking, either with my first email enquiry or if over the phone when asked for it, as usually happens, or I'll offering when giving my address etc. However, by coincidence, I booked a site tonight and offered the owner my number, and although they took my phone number they said they didn't bother with my membership number because as I was contacting them for a pitch I must be a CC member!

Sorry John for mistaking you for Ted. That will teach me to read the responses to my post properly in future.
As MickyA says that he/she is a member of the Booking Group but not a member of the CC will you be removing him/her from the Booking Group?

Some on here could probably help with that, but perhaps it's best not to go there, John.
Thanks for your reply. At least my post has raised a question or two and the predictable responses.
