A new series of the Canadian detective series started on BBC2 last night. This apparently is the last series to be made. The series is based on the novels of Giles Blunt set in the fictional Algonquin Bay. As usual with many of these detective series the main character is full of doubts about his past and the mysterious death of his wife. His younger, very bright,  female sidekick, who you can never quite work out whether he has feelings for, is off to another police force once the current horrendous crime is solved. It is quite a gruesome story line filmed in winter with real snow!!!

Very Scandi feel about it. Bleak in both senses as well.

Never saw  any of the previous series ,but saw the present one advertised. I decided to start on series one on catch up. Found it to be  fantastic viewing. Just finished the first series going onto No 2 today.

I think we have watched most of them as they have been broadcast. We seem to watch a lot of foreign TV detective series, especially from European countries. Not so keen on modern series from the USA although used to enjoy the Rockford Files and Columbo years ago.
