I had one years ago from Halfords but it wasn't very effective. Now technology has moved on i'm thinking of getting another.

Can anyone recommend a good one? Not looking for anything too big.

Thanks

I have 2 Halfords ones, 8L & 24L both of which can run off 240 volt.

As long as they are chilled by 240v initially or have cold produce put in they work well in transit & we have kept them cold by plugging into hotel rooms overnight.

Weight permitting we will utilise as additional food storage in MH once we can start travelling.....

    hope this helps!

I bought a Lidls special about 2 years ago.

It serves as my fridge when working away from home and have used it in the MH when touring.

Once cold inside it is pretty well insulated and stays cold for quite a while without power as long as the lid stays shut. Works just as well on 12v as it does on 240v. At full cooling the fan can be a bit noisy.

Just be aware that after 7-10 days of cooling the internal fins can ice over which means having to think about timing the defrost of the coolbox when it is low on contents

We have had a 12v one from Lidl for many years, also bought  mains/12v one from Aldi in Germany a few years back so we could use it at home too, both are effective and well insulated.

We bought on in Carrefour about 5 years ago.

Works on both 12/240v we tend to use when away for keeping drinks, salad and fruit cool.

I think works at about 10c below the ambient temperature.

Years ago (35+) we had a  chest type fridge that we took away with us as the caravan at that time didn't have a fitted fridge. It was fantastic, worked off gas/12v/240v. Can't think now why we let it go, hardly cost anything back then. We used to leave home in Germany with some frozen stuff in it and the rest just normal fridge food. When we got to Italy after 3 night stops the frozen goods were still frozen. smile

We have tried various types and now have a combi cool 3 way fridge bought at Obelink in Holland.

They are not cheap but they actually work which other cheaper ones did not with any great success.

Just visited Lidl today and picked up a leaflet.

Lidl's are selling the 30l cool-box, apart from the colour, same as the one I have, from Sunday 7 June for £39.99

The other bonus which hasn't been mentioned, is that it can keep things warm as well, great for that fish and chip run!
