Devon and Cornwall Police have warned drivers they will be fined if they are on the roads in breach of the COVID-19 coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

It comes after they stopped a driver who was towing a caravan down the A38  - and another who collecting  supplies for a renovation project.

This was re[ported on the Devon live website after police tweeted it at 1208 today. They seem to have warned the caravan guy but fined the other as he was using his mobile whilst driving.

COVID-19 aside .... when giving your motorhome a run, make sure you get it properly warm otherwise it'd be better left on the drive/in storage.

In the small print it said that driving to an open area for exercise was fine. Why would anybody want to prohibit just driving around! The objective surely is to prevent driving for the purpose of social gathering not to ban vehicles all together.

When a doctor was asked that question on TV yesterday he said it was not fine just going for a drive.

His reasoning was that the vehicle may break down or be involved in an accident which would result in contact with other people. He also felt that only essential travel meant less contact in filling stations with staff and less touching of fuel filler, card reader and other objects.

Of course you may feel he is wrong.

not quite going for a drive, but an area where i can walk the dog without coming into contact with others is a 10 minute drive, so he jumps in the boot off we go, he jumps out of boot , we walk and reverse the scenario, much safer i think than walking the pavements where there could be many  more people to avoid, or the park round the corner, although i did walk him into the village this morning to shop.

His reasoning was that the vehicle may break down or be involved in an accident which would result in contact with other people.

I would like to open a book on the chances of this actually happening, especially if you are driving locally.

Well I see the point except that I have an EV and only charge at home. However, I can see no real reason to use transport so we now have three vehicles effectively laid up.

There is one way of getting round exercising your motorhome, and that is ,    Put a lead on it and call it a dog ! , that way you can take it out as often as you like cool

Booked ours yesterday, CY, but today the garage rang and cancelled it. That’s one less potentially risky thing to do in the current circumstances👍🏻

I've tried playing some of those YouTube exercise videos through the kitchen window at the MH but there's not much audience participation.
