Eurotunnel - is there a charge ?

Does the Club make a charge for altering bookings made through them for the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle crossings if Members have to alter crossing times due to the uncertainty of travel abroad at the moment ?

I would presume that many Members may be reconsidering their plans due to events beyond their control and going later in the year may be a better option for many.

I am in the higher risk category and we are certainly considering delaying our forthcoming trip to France until a later, and hopefully more risk free holiday, date.

But is there an extra charge by the Club, Eurotunnel themselves do not charge, for any changes made to the Channel crossings ?

Ther is a small admin. charge with the Club which is one of the reasons that we book direct, however, having changed our return booking for the last few years we always seem to end up paying a small amount. Eurotunnel say that they just charge you if it is a more expensive band but funnily it has always seemed to be more expensive for us!

Some people say that it is better to book a single then book the return when you are away but the prices increase substantially as you get nearer the departure date so we have always found it better to book a fixed return then just change the booking. You can do this online or by phone 7 days a week which is the main reason that we book direct. I am sure you can change your outward trip for little cost.

We haven’t booked yet and will wait and see what happens but in previous years the fares have increased substantially within a couple of weeks of planned departure and we have always been advised to book then change rather than leave too late.

We too are booked with Eurotunnel direct for late May and are in the 'vulnerable' group.  We have not cancelled yet but we received an email from them a couple of days ago reminding that you can amend your booking up to 24 hrs before travel, no cost unless the new booking is more expensive.  Our trip is 'non essential'  (I refer to a now closed discussion) and so will not go unless things improve; all holiday trips are 'non essential' by definition.

Club is stating on their Coronavirus Advice page that they are waiving club amendment fees for all destinations and cancellation fees for affected countries

We have also booked a return crossing on the Eurotunnel for the motorhome, however due to travel being banned in France for holidays, all we can get is an offer of an alternative crossing date from Eurotunnel, as we booked last October, if things are still the same this October an alternative crossing date is of no use, & at present refunds are not available from Eurotunnel, & they are STILL taking bookings, knowing that holiday travellers are being turned around once in France, so are they just profiteering from this situation???

They do mention this on their website, that if you are not in the below category you have every chance of being turned around. It is up to the individual to take some responsibility, and research if what they want to do is actually doable.

Eurotunnel remains open at the moment for the undermentioned reasons.

• Going home to a main residence
• Essential work in France
• Medical staff

I wouldn’t expect Eurotunnel to know the reason for travel when they accept a booking. People must be responsible for their own actions.
