It is several years since we were last there, and at that time the facilities were very old fashioned, and chilly, does anyone know if they have been refurbished in the last few years?

There are quite a lot of recent reviews which give no indication of a problem with the facilities except for one mentioning there was briefly no hot water.

Yes, I read the reviews, they sound OK, just wondered as I had not read anything about the facilities being refurbished.

They were very 70s style last time we were there, pretty spartan.  No light working in the disabled facilities, just a notice asking campers to use them only in daylight hours, which was not exactly user friendly!

We can easily use our own facilities, but as this will be the most expensive site of our 4 weeks away, it would be good to know things had improved.

We were last there in late July 1995 which is not much use to you either. Five nights cost £46.26!!! What I do remember about the visit was that in field opposite the campsite there was a Cèilidh, (hope I have got that right) funnily enough opened by a very young Charles Kennedy!

Last night I went back and read all the reviews, the earliest ones there are from 2015, and many mention the very dated facilities, whereas the most recent ones say facilities are good, so fingers crossed.

Checked my records and the last time we were there was September 2013.

Our 5 nights will be £116 as 2 of them are low season.

More than we usually pay for a site, but with all the other sites being less, we are still coming in below our max £20 per night on average.

We were there just over 3 years ago.  Used the facilities a couple of times and seemed to remember they were the normal standard.  We were there in August and didn't have a heat problem.  To be honest even on club sites I tend to use the van facilities more that the sites

We were there in May 2016 and the facilities were of the normal CC standard. They were however a little overstretched on a couple of nights when the site was fairly full and there were also a lot of tents. It is very popular with backpackers.

KJ, I think you need to look at the Poolewe site if you are concerned about facilities! (Old but clean is the best description.) I think you mentioned going there in your plans? However the village and area is still lovely. smile

Thanks, brue, I read the reviews.  We have been there a couple of times before, though the last time was around 2004-2006, sounds like it has not changed!

We have good facilities in the van, so not a problem.

We were at CCC Craigellachie last April, facilities there are also clean but basic, and the heating was really not up to the below zero temperatures.

Much better not to venture out in the snow for a shower!!

KjellNN, we were at Morvich early May 2019 for 3 nights, facilties were modern  and warm, which was a treat as we had just spent  two weeks in the beautiful Outer Hebrides, beautiful but freezing !!  Morvich is one of our favourite sites, really nice wardens too with small well stocked shop at the time. Hope this info helps you.  Hondamans OH
