Best place to start
As you may have seen from my first post, I'm new to touring but wondered where your best suggestions are to visit in the UK?

Tough question.
Before anyone can put forward anything of interest, perhaps tell us what your interests might be, young old or in between, travelling solo or with family, countryside or coastal and full of beans or like lazing and watching the world go by.

A lot will depend on your outfit, who is travelling, where your home is, what your interests are, how much money you can spend, do you need facilities or not, are you NT, EH, HHA Members, Etc......
Agree for a first trip, close to home, get used to outfit, gain confidence. After that, you will have to give us some clues on your likes or dislikes, otherwise suggestions might be way off course!

It’s a question that’s almost impossible to answer because people have different preferences. Also, we don't know where you're based or how far you want to travel.
Join this club and/or the other club, take a look at the sites and the map and take your pick.

As has been mentioned above, not far from home, preferably as soon after picking up the van as possible. That's what we did with both our caravans and the MH. Straight from the dealer after the pre collection induction to Clumber Park CAMC site, which is only a few miles from home. The dealer should go over how everything works, especially the heating system. Ours was very good with our first van, we told them we new very little, so he spent about an hour and a half going through how to set it up from scratch. By going away straight away you don't get time to forget what you have been taught. If buying privately get the seller to go through setting it up when you collect it. That will also give you a chance to see that everything, pumps etc are in working order. If you get into difficult on a club site you will almost always find somebody willing to assist. We have on occasion been helped and have also assisted others.

I see from your first post, ALees, that you were only thinking about getting a caravan and weren't sure if it was right for you. Can we assume you have now decided to go for it or is this latest question speculative?
I suggest you get the van, if indeed that’s the way you go, pick an area to visit and then folk will be able to tell you about the area. Happy hunting👍🏻

It is not what our "best suggestions" are.
It is where you want to go and what you want to do.
You can decide on areas and attractions you would like to visit and then look to see where there are sites in those areas.
There are advantages in being in this Club and in The Camping and Caravanning Club. CCC provides its members (who have chosen "paper membership") with a free comprehensive book called "Siteseekers" which details Club sites, Certificated sites of 5 pitches for members only and many commercial sites. Along with its monthly magazine, CCC will also include (by request) a monthly magazine called "Out and About" which has details of weekend meets and temporary holiday sites throughout the UK. These are run by members for members.
CAMC also provides members with a free comprehensive guide to its Cub sites, Certificated locations and some commercial sites. CAMC also has weekend meets and temporary holiday sites but unfortunately there is not a magazine which lists them all.

anywhere in the UK is doable, but for a first trip I suggest that somewhere close to home is advisable. Cornwall may be close to home for the OP, but more likely than not it isn't.

You can find enjoyment and relaxation as easily on a site just down the road as on a long trip. mind you we are spoilt living on the Devon/Cornwall border and Plymouth ferry port for trips in to France close by.

best suggestions are to visit in the UK
Just a thought for you Alees, a caravan is just a mobile room, and a site is like a hotel but you bring your own room. So ask yourself what places you would visit using hotels, even one after another? I'm sure there will be a site from some provider that will be near where you want to go?
For me Scotland is good.

Surely the title of the OP is a good indication of it being a first trip. We'll just have to wait and see if a caravan or M/H is forthcoming and where they live to aid them in a choice of initial site.

Even the most dyed in the wool "over there" enthusiast would see the merits of a UK trip initially so that the newbie wouldn't have the additional challenges of language if encountering a technical issue.

We took ours the second year. Wanted a bit of practice at towing first before I negotiated a ferry. 😂 We had tented for years in France, so that side of it wasn't new. We then decided it wasn't worth the expense for our two week holiday and stopped in the UK for 6 years until we had both retired.
