Very interesting. A big project, but what a transformation. And it gets used. 👍

There’s nothing like individuality AD. Old caravans are a huge draw at the moment, people pay silly money to stay in them. I would rather have a sound oldie than a dodgy new any day. Choose your tow vehicle with care as well, and some places will pay you to be on site!😁
PS, I know your current new model isn’t dodgy by the way. But oh, the gap in price.......

The first picture of a 1957 sprite musketeer shown in the thread, brought back memories of the one a group of us converted into a mobile communication base station 9with quite high mast, and refreshment van where police inspector, and other head honchos based them selves ,in 1982 for our R.E.A.C.T team (when CB was made legal), and I towed it to many half marathons and and other venues in Herts,Beds and Cambs where it was used when our team (up to 30 radio cars ) were in great demand by the Police and St Johns or Red Cross who all needed instant comunications,to their staff, ,when in those days ,mobile phones etc were not heard of,
Ps it was kept with ours and FIL c/vans in the back garden of our previos house all out of sight of anybody

Looks a nice outfit AD. I think it’s a bit like old cars, some people like them, others not as much, different interests. I came from a family who didn’t own a car, so didn’t have an early childhood touring background. But I loved my OH’s cars and our first caravan. We still have the second one!😂

The Cherry was smaller than that.
Looks to be a 160J http://www.datman.co.uk/carsforsale/ 2nd car down

The Cherry was definitely small. Didn't it eventually evolve into the NIssan Micra?

Got us all pondering now AD😁 Laurel? Bluebird? Reg is 1979......🤔
160J but a Violet? Doesn’t seem to have twin headlights, but winkers on outside of headlights.......🤔
( this isn’t me thinking by the way, OH is now pondering😁)
Hang on, Penny has dropped.....you are overseas, they are not winkers on outside but continental covers to headlights?🤷♂️

Datsun Violet?

Not me, OH😁. He’s like Sherlock Holmes digging for cars........
Can you recall if it had twin headlights AD? Are the outer ones covered with diffusers for Continental driving?
