Sad to see that the last of "The Few" has finally passed away, aged 101.

One cannot reiterate enough the enormous debt that this united country owes to those brave pilots as well as the support crew on the ground including aircraft designers etc.

Thank you.

I was just going to post on his passing but you have said it all and I could not agree more

The gratitude of every home in our island, in our Empire, and indeed throughout the world except in the abodes of the guilty goes out to the British airmen who, undaunted by odds, unweakened by their constant challenge and mortal danger, are turning the tide of world war by their prowess and their devotion.

Another of the few from WW2 gone.  You have my gratitude for the sacrifices your generations made so I could live my relatively peaceful life - RIP

For me personally it’s been a sad start to the year as a number of my Band of Brothers have departed to join the Angel Squadron RIP

Always amazing how many of these people that have seen and suffered such adversity survive into ripe old age.
