We are Seniors!! the cost is just bloody ridiculous £632.40 that works out at 37.20 per night for 17 nights

This is outrageous five star sites with swimming pools do not cost this much this is supposed to be a club for members this is why we pay a fee each year!!! re check your pricing I will be not be a member next year just cant afford it your pricing us seniors out

Is there a 5 star site with swimming pool near Bridlington less expensive in July? If so, the solution is obvious! smile

Have to agree that club sites are getting way overpriced.

We have 4 nights booked in April at just a few coppers short of £100 surprised

No wonder we don't use them very much preferring rallies, CL's, CS or THS.

    Much better value for money.

Then everyone is happy? People who think clubs are good value for money and those that don't are all catered for. I can't see a problem?

I've been on several non club sites with swimming pools and club houses not far from Bridlington, not significantly different in price in the 'high season' to be honest. Now which would I prefer? For several reasons which I'm sure many would agree with, the one which some consider too expensive. But I'd also choose not to go in the high season too for reasons some may disagree with or find difficult to comprehend. However, if the holiday was grand children orientated I might choose differently. Its all about choice, expectations, needs and demands. I'd bet both 'parks' will still be pretty much full in high season despite the prices and my bookings. Not going down the supermarket analogy but I reckon it does resonate with this dilemma.

One of the "problems?" with what some consider "excessive " prices is how much of the ever rising costs of keeping the sites networks (both big clubs) can be absorbed before a rise is inevitably to follow, and when considering what minimal saleries have to pay staff in national companies and then the (health and safety ) and litigation that has caused a lot of what was in the past able to be done by on site staff is now done by outsourcing to "specialist?"companies,

An example is the site that we are now on ,the sewerage/waste water has to be pumped from the site to the main drains it has in the last twelve months cost over £10,000 to keep the system running ,which has not been helped by the increasing use of so called "flushable"wet wipes that are continually blocking the pumping system , and last weekend alone entailed hundred of pounds to have tankers and contractors staff endevering to clear another blockage mostly caused by thoughtless use by site users   ,and according to the winter site staff the contractors stated that it was becoming a real problem for all systems every where  and that the water companies costs have escalated for the same reason

And that is just one sites ever increasing costs for all services

Alternatives in the lovely Wolds Countryside just outside of Bridlington...

Rectory Farm CL, showing £16 per night, showers, loos, adult only, great for dogs.

Thorpe Hall Estate Caravan Site, £22 per night, superb loo and shower block, Estate to walk in, located in Walled Garden, half a mile from Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens.

If you choose, there is life beyond Club Sites. Not sure exactly what facilities you need, both are grass, but close cut, and well drained.

If the business was not there then I doubt the club would have now got three sites quite large sites in the area with over seven million pounds being spent on the latest acquisition surprised

The way society seems to be going with the ever increasing rise in "I have paid my money"I expect you to pander to my every whim, then i think  your analogy  is pretty near correctwink

We nearly always use cls and agree most of them are great value for money but their prices vary massively. 4 nights at The Crown in Mickleton would now cost you £100, as their fee has gone up from £20 to £25 per night.

I think in the end it's a case of if you want something you pay for it and if you don't you won't.

I'm just glad there's so many places to choose from😊

I understand what the original poster means by the high price. We’ve said a few times that we’d be struggling to match our 6 weeks in France holiday price with a holiday in the U.K. Our 6 weeks in France, including ferry, booked through this club is £1100. The sites, apart from one, have huge pitches & good pools. However we are also booked for a fortnight in U.K. at the club’s Incleboro Fields in Norfolk for 15 nights, in August & that is only £322. That’s quite cheap I’m sure compared with Chatsworth or Troutbeck Head.

Despite being nowhere near full in July, when we visited, the price was higher than a lot of other CC sites and summer peak longer. In 2020 they have again stretched peak and it now runs from 26/6 to 3/9. It will be joining up with the dates either side soon.😂 It's the same price as Chatsworth with a month longer summer peak.🤔

Don't forget the Club's demographic iis very much largely composed of the grey haired brigade. I seem to remember that the membership comprised of only 18 percent of families with children. Correct me if I am wrong. The Club also tends to trarget the more affluent of society, so extended peak season makes sense for the bean counters.

I thought that sounded too cheap for a couple. Current price in August is £31.40p or £471 for 15 nights

Perhaps you should look at the bigger picture...We too are seniors with somewhat fixed pensions and as such the senior partner always insists that I prepare a realistic 'Holiday' budget for the coming year. (Jan-Dec)

Given that we spend 3 months (Apr,Jun,Sept) of the year abroad on sites..plus a cruise at some point...we are left with approximately 60 nights touring in the UK...mainly on CaMC sites (including Bridlington this coming March).

Currently our 'Touring' budget stands at £6K for 148 nights... which includes Annual multi trip insurance, Ferries inc Club class cabins/on board meals (the OH went 5* last year)..fuel cost based on 26mpg...which equates to £40 pn. Not far from the £37.20 you quote.  Compare this to a cruise i am just about to book at £4500 for 16 nights (incl transfers) which equates to £281 pn..

As a motor dealer once said to me.... many many years ago when I went to look at buying my first Range Rover....when I asked 'How many miles to the gallon... his reply was 'if you have to ask, you can't afford it' !!

The club no doubt has site budgets and possibly some sites are quite expensive to run and maintain. I would imagine the finance budget sometimes runs into unexpected costs eg utility prices and wage rises. So on the whole these rising costs are shared amongst price rises.

It's nothing to do with who can afford it, it's more to do with the club being able to afford "it" from the prices it sets. It's a big undertaking and I'm glad we still have so much choice even if we have to absorb some of the ongoing costs.

I wouldn't say it was way down the list OP but I like value for money so I will shop around in the location I want to be. It isn't  mandatory to use a Club site. Sometime Club sites are better value for money and sometimes they are not.

One thing that I do know is that the Club sites are not the cheapest but not the dearest that I shall use this year.

We decide location, then look at prices.

We have not in the past gone away high season, but the last couple of years our first trip of the year has included Easter, so when peak prices are in force we avoid Club sites.  We do not really need much in the way of facilities, so are using more CLs, and CCC sites work out well for us as we get the discount.  They also have much shorter peak periods.

The fact that some sites  are not full over the school summer break should indicate to the Club that prices are too high for what is on offer.

For us it is the never ending stretching of the peak periods which is a big deterrent to using Club sites.

We look to average under £20 per night over the year, so while most of the sites we use will be below that, it does allow the occasional more expensive site if there really is no alternative.

Unfortunately my pension does not keep up with overall inflation, let alone CAMC inflation, and savings interest is getting almost non existent, so something has to give!

We did 216 nights away last year and apart from one were all on cc sites all prices and all seasons and it averaged out  at £25.per night which was we consider was  good value,  certainly cheaper than going abroad  for the time away,  and to do that we did 2429 miles at about 28 mpg with the caravan on the hookcool

I was away 91 nights, 27 percent of them on Club sites, a little more use of Club sites than in the previous 3 years because I didn't go across the Channel. My average nightly cost was £17.8p.n. The previous year it was £15.5. I doubt it will exceed £20 this year.

Nice site though, we really enjoyed it. We will certainly go back, although will invest in a set of Quattro ramps. The ones have aren't really suitable for Incleboro.😀

Well Kj if, as stated before, 18% of members then it is quite likely that many of the remainder avoid sites when the children are on Summer holidays.

crikey!!! that works out at approx £5.4k, i could do 2 x 90 day trips abroad for that and have almost guaranteed sunshine, not sat on some damp cold club site, and you must have had plenty of those this winter thus far, i think the sun has forgotten about the UK of late undecided

I have just looked at late availability for this weekend

Broadway on a serviced pitch, 2 adults £54.00

Private site Eye Kettleby (far superior to any club site) £48.00 and they will throw in a late checkout on Sunday for that.

No annual members fee just an excellent site for less money

I think with membership we should not be paying more than £25.00 per night, I know others disagree and seeing how full the sites always are lots are happy to pay the price as I do but I would not say I'm happy and I do feel they are taking advantage of how popular club sites are

Is that really an indication? I would have thought that occupancy rates compared to other providers would be better, or going on previous numbers?

I wouldn't expect all sites to full anyway, some, less attractive to families wouldn't be.

Additionally how do you or anyone know that they are not at sometime full, without daily reports how is that possible? Can't really go on what is posted here as it is such a small and unrepresentative sample.

But yes if sadly one cannot 'afford' club sites one has to go elsewhere, rather than lament the set prices or wish for lower ones.
