Has anyone had a warranty repair by Bailey for cracks similar to mine in the front panel? If so, please could you tell me how old your caravan was when the repair took place.

I have a 2012 Bailey Pegasus (Series 2) Verona which I purchased new in November 2011 from Flintshire Caravans (who no longer exist, unfortunately). The van has been well looked after and serviced regularly by Approved Bailey engineers near where I now live (South Wales). It is covered by the 10 year Bodyshell Integrity Guarantee.

I have recently noticed two cracks against the two small windows in the front panel (nearside 7.2cm and offside 5cm : please see photos). I understand from various forums, including this one, that this is a known problem with this particular model. Bailey has repaired  a number of these vans, including some out of 3 year warranty, by replacing the complete panel which runs from the front, across the roof to the rear of the van. It would cost me in excess of £5000 to have this done.

They are refusing to help with my van because, they say, they only cover ‘instances of water ingress through any permanently sealed joint or seam of a caravan’s bodyshell’.

I have contacted the club’s legal department who think I could possibly have a claim under the Consumer Rights Act (lack of durability) or the Sale of Goods Act. I have also asked for help from a local dealer, Dinmore Leisure, and am waiting for their advice. I paid for the van with a debit card, and not credit card, unfortunately.

It would be really helpful to me if you could let me know if you have experienced the same problem. I am a pensioner and worried that I will not be able to sell or part exchange this van now.
