Price increase at Chatsworth

We have just booked Friday & Saturday night  for the same weekend at Chatsworth as this year and the price has increased by £9 per night! Obviously expect a slight increase each year but think this is a bit excessive.  Has anyone else experienced such a big hike in prices for next year or is Chatsworth the only site charging so much more?

Thanks 🙂

Without knowing dates or how many folk it is difficult to comment on that increase. Not booked any for next year.

Which weekend have you booked? Might it be due to the late change in the early May Bank Holiday date?

Have you checked that its not regarded as school holiday pricing? This year the October half term seemed to run over two weeks and perhaps the Club did not realise that but have corrected it for the future?

Did you perhaps book this years before last December, when there was that mid season increase.

I can only see a £1 a night increase. The 2019 pricing booklet shows 8.9, 2.9 and 10.3 for adult child and pitch. 2020 prices from the web site are 9.3, 2.8 and 10.6.

Surely it wouldn't have gone up that much (£9) even allowing for that Steve? I suspect a miscalculation here - blame the maths teachers! laughing

I think I see what's happened. The CC have gone from about 1.5 weeks for half term this year to 2.5 next. So this year the OP would have been into the cheaper post half term prices. What DK said above.

Unsure when we booked to be honest. £46.75 this year, £64 next so £8.62.

Whatever the explanation, the bottom line is that it has gone up £9/night.

True, however what perhaps is surprising is that it wasn't dearer this year. Living in the East Midlands, which will supply a lot of the folk visiting Chatsworth at half term, it has obviously be spread over 2 weeks. Some areas one week rather than the other, some two weeks. Add on the possible inset days at each end and 2.5 weeks is about right. After all Chatsworth is popular. The price isn't actually peak but the intermediate price.

    and your point is?

So it has gone up, so what? pay it or not, as we're always being told far cheaper sites out there.

btw I think Sainburys have put up their prices for mince pies ( I knew you would be interested), shall I buy them there or go somewhere cheaper? I probably will if I can get the same quality.

Same goes for this club site I would think. I mean no one is being forced to go there?

    you off pies now Burt?

Yes but saying the price has gone up like you have is simply pointless?  There is a reason behind it so either accept the reason/ price or don't go?

I noticed this year that Hillhead only had a week of raised half term prices and it was possibly the wrong week for most half term dates. At least some got a better priced holiday!

Reading and commenting on a post that you think is pointless is also pointless.  🤔

Corners, I think we have a confusion of posters. (Is that a collective noun?🤔)  Whiston answered yours to Mikey and, understandably, it’s gone haywire from there😄.

While Chatsworth club site continues to get booked up, even though prices are getting 'eye watering' of course the club will continue to increase prices well above inflation. The site is too close to too many cities and large towns. I stopped there once this year, and found it far too frantic, with too much coming and going to be relaxing, and weekends were absolute chaos...nice site..Wrong place.

I would agree the site can be busy and exiting / returning at the wrong time can be fraught. However, even when we had a caravan we seldom went off site with the car, preferring to walk from the site, for which is excellent. Unlike Longleat where you now need a ticket even to walk in much of the grounds, Chatsworth allows free acces to much of the estate and you can use the eating places etc.

Chatsworth is what it is. Set on a beautiful estate, big house, gardens, lots of events. It is close to some big cities, so does feature as a prime getaway for hundreds of thousands of folks who live not far away.

Baslow village itself is frankly boring. You need deep pockets to visit the house and gardens, shops etc.... but car parking fees are offset by being on site. Everything contributes to the not insubstantial coffers of the Devonshire Estates. As do those at Bolton Abbey. Again staying there offsets the very expensive parking charges.

We have never used Chatsworth Site, it’s an easy afternoon drive for us to visit house and gardens, so we tend to go further when touring. There are some lovely CLs around Chatsworth area and slightly further afield. But I can understand the draw of seeing the house if you live further away.

I think the club got the pricing at Chatsworth wrong this year hence the amendment for next year.  We live right on the Notts/Derbys border and have two daughters who both teach, one in Notts, the other in Derbys.

We booked the caravan into the site for two weeks ending on 1 November. Notts schools had two weeks half term ending 1 November but Derbyshire schools only had one week ending on 1 November.  Strangely, the first week was the more expensive week, pricing having been reduced for the second week when most schools were off.

Clearly they have noticed the error and have now made the two weeks more expensive.
