Hello

We have just purchased a 1948 Spartan caravan and are looking for a  small site to put it on.   We are preferably looking for something in  Cornwall or Devon  for the winter where we would also be able to stay at the weekends.  we are 2 X adults in our 40's  and a well behaved 9 year old, we have no pets.

I'm hoping that Caravan Club members might be able to suggest somewhere suitable.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Regrettably, the majority of sites in the Westcountry close over winter. Although some remain open, nothing suitable springs readily to mind.

That van looks a mighty beast and I’m wondering how you will transport it, especially on our narrow roads. What are the dimensions of the van?

Hi DC, what a fantastic looking van, looks a bit like a high speed train.smile

The overhang behind the rear wheels looks very long; I wouldn’t like to tow it with my Xtrail.undecided

Sorry I can’t help with the site request.

Oh boy. I'd like to see that transported down some Devon or Cornish roads. Good luck with that one.smile

Moving it takes a lot of planning and reckies! It's in a friend's car park at the moment whilst we do some repairs. It's the same size as an airstream overlander.

In theory if you used club CL’s you would have to move every 28 days so that could be a pain.

A long time a go I stayed on a site which offered storage as well as pitching. You could leave the van in their storage area and when you wanted to use it, you phoned and they put it on one of their pitches for you. I think the site was Padstow Touring Park. Give them a ring.

Twelve Oaks (Teigngrace, near Newton Abbot) offer the same service. I think the size would be an issue though.
