Anyone else noticed the recent change to site surveys. I don't think it was my imagination but the questions on WiFi have been expanded and I notice there are now questions about electric vehicle ownership. The Club must want more information about how we are using or planning to use these facilities and thinking about the future requirements..

I have had one after every site I have visited this year ET. I thought they were sent to everyone who stayed on a site?

I used to get them but not lately. Maybe time to check my preferences? But I do get other e-mail from CC. Any chance of knowing the questions PD?

Cannot remember the questions word for word but they were about how you used WiFi, CMC's or 4G and if you owned an electric vehicle, if so what type and did you intend to purchase one in the next year?

I suspect the people that don't get have the surveys ticked something in their communications with the Club settings. Do the people who don't get the surveys also not get the "Enjoy Your Holiday" emails?

I like the surveys as it allows you to add more flesh to the bones than you normally would in a review. The Club also be taking quite a bit of notice of these surveys. How often have you seen "We have been listening" which suggests to me it is their main source of feedback.

On Peedee's point about electric cars I keep suggesting that electric cars should be hired direct from site!!!

We used four sites recently and I have had two surveys which I have completed. The question on electric and hybrid cars does seem relevant as we are going to get them on site in some numbers at some point which will require a lot more power at the sites. Hopefully the information will help the club plan for this.

The requests for reviews seem to be random. Sometimes I get one sometimes I don't.

I was getting concerned the Club had stopped sending them out but today I was asked to do one for the Edinburgh site which we left 8/9 days ago. Be interesting to see if we get them for the other sites we have stayed at, Will report back.

I’ve had one for the three club sites we’ve stayed at this year, so far, the last being the New Forest Centenary Site.  There was certainly questions about the WiFi.  Not sure if there was more than previously.  Can’t say I noticed any questions about electric vehicles.

Maybe the club is behind the curve, just returned from a beautiful site in Dorset, non club, and guess what, they are not doing surveys, they have been proactive, 2 electric charging stations by the facilities block, 2 additional units by the Leisure block, yes you have to pay, but nothing wrong with that.

Just an update. About a week after our stay at Edinburgh I did get an email asking me to complete a survey. No reference to electric vehicles, charging or otherwise. The reason for that might be that they have enough information for their immediate needs? Should also add that I have received a second survey request for the second site we stayed at in Scotland, haven't yet completed it.

'On Peedee's point about electric cars I keep suggesting that electric cars should be hired direct from site!!!'

David  - are you suggesting that the club keeps a fleet of EV's at every site so members can hire them out?

That sounds expensive in terms of capital costs to the club.

Yes I am!!! I would imagine that it would only be on a small scale at first. perhaps one or two cars just to test the water so to speak. We have been on French campsites where they hire out small cars, quite cheaply as it happened) and I think it would be a useful additional service the Club could offer. It could be expensive for the Club bit I think if they went down that route they would do it in conjunction either with a manufacturer or a hire company. There must be many of us who are wondering what it might like to be like to own an electric car and to be able to short term hire one from a Club site might help.

Basically you are suggesting, that the club invest in even more "infrastructure" that would be more of an advantage to one section of membership of what is an inclusive clubundecided

The way I see it is that we are entering a new era where what we do now might not be what we do tomorrow so we need to explore lots of options. if the Club is to continue and grow.

They could of course do it by charging M/H's double site fees for the privileged of having the opportunity to use one the hire cars if available or not......fine by me.wink

There might be a few who wonder david. The numbers repeatedly hiring to satisfy curiosity will be low. The CC already have an arrangement with a car rental firm don't they?

Anybody curious can hire a Leaf from Hertz

And who on site would manage the car hire facilities, from what i have heard site wardens are already hard pressed to manage their current work load, just think about the work required to rent out just 1 car undecided, paper work, cleaning, ensuring it has been returned in a good state, ensuring it goes out in a good state, insurance queries etc , not something wardens could manage i would imagine.

Whilst I agree about the club possibly using this type of survey as a forward planning tool IMHO unless all members complete such a survey at the same time (once) then the findings will only show a percentage of the membership’s views with regard to present/possible future usage of site WIFI and electric cars to which you refer.  I personally can envisage charging points for electric cars being a future investment at some sites.  Maybe not on all sites due to lease contracts etc. and on site WIFI could possibly disappear if the yearly charge take-up is low.  For info. -  I have not completed such a survey.  I feel the club will continue to evolve.

I think the club has provided charge points on a couple of sites, Brighton is one I believe but I may be wrong? What type of point, I don't know? Is there a way of finding out other than by word of mouth? No doubt the surveys might throw up various future needs. smile

Where there is a will? How do they manage on sites that have pods? If someone can learn to operate a site point of sale terminal they can learn to administer a couple of hire cars and look after them. They could even incentivise so the wardens got an extra reward. Cost was mentioned but I can't see the cost being anymore that the current investment in pods and statics and its more than possible it could be done in partnership. All I am doing here is floating an idea. The Club at the end of the day have to decide whether it would be a worthwhile proposition for them. It also wouldn't be appropriate for all sites but a few I could see it working would be Southlands, Hillhead, Cayton Village, Bridlington. There are probably more places but I just flag up a few where I would certainly consider hiring one.

I do believe there are basic charge points on every EHU pitch already.

There are plenty of companies hiring cars. I can see no benefit in the CC doing the same. And why electric cars? Useless for towing and an onlikely choice for a toad at present.
