Visiting SS Great Britain

I stopped at a CL close to Chipping Sodbury. Intentions were to visit, among many places, were Clifton Bridge and the SS Great Britain. The Clifton Suspension bridge took us on a fairly long drive to a Park and Ride, where we bought the bus! Welsh bus passes not valid there. After getting to Bristol City centre we then bought another bus to get to Clifton. Did the bridge and museum (very good) and returned via the reverse route of going. A long day!

SS Great Britain - Drove into Bristol (quick journey) and parked close to the ships dry dock and museum. Paid £5 for five hours parking. Got £3 back when we went in to see the attraction (absolutely great), had time to chug across the water to the city centre, have lunch, have a walk, then get back. A big saving on time and money

Glad you enjoyed it. In February last year we managed to get into Baltic Wharf for a few nights and walked to the suspension bridge. It was, as you say, really enjoyable. We'd already been on the SS G.B., another excellent attraction which at the time also included a talk about IKB and his time in London and his move to Bristol. Enlightening.

Sounds like you enjoyed some of those Bristol sights! I agree parking is good for the SS Gt Britain and I think you have a year to return and use your visitor ticket again for free?

We sometimes drive into Bristol from the Gordano Services and drive across the Suspension Bridge (£1) to Clifton from this route...but it's not for anyone who has vertigo! wink

Brue...over the bridgein your MH?.....lanes a bit tight for some larger vans I'd wager...🙀

camping at BW is like being on a continental city aire, strolling distance to town, small tight site but great location....

we use it to visit our son, many attractions accessible on the hoof...and can have a nice bottle of wine and not worry about driving.

great little site, hope it lasts a bit longer.
