Hi all. Just googled street map the route from the borrowdale road (B5289) to pass through Grange and found a width restriction of 6 feet 6 inches over the bridge between both the road and Grange. Has anybody used this route and had problems? We have a 26.9 shipping length and 8 foot width. Any info will be helpful. Thanks Dave Tarsey.

Just thought I'd post a reminder of the directions given in the Sites Directory.

"Please do not use sat nat.  Leave M6 at junction 40 onto A66 (Keswick); on outskirts of Keswick keep R onto bypass (sp Cockermouth A66); within 1.5 m at roundabout turn L (sp A5271 Keswick; Borrowdale B5289); at T-junction turn L; and at mini roundabout turn R and follow sps onto B5289; in abt 4.25 m turn R over bridge (care required) into road sp Grange, Newlands (width restriction).  Site on R in 1 m.

Notes:  Do not enter or leave site along W side of Derwentwater.  Before turning R off B5289 at Grange, check bridge is clear.  Care required thro Grange village, on double humpbridge and final approach."

The sign does indeed give a width limit of 6'6" but also "except for access" so taking the van is legal.

However, the tow through Grange and onward towards the site is a bit narrow in places and badly parked cars can cause problems but the route can be done with care. Also the final turn into the site is very tight.

No doubt other members who have taken an 8' van will confirm it is do-able.

PS, the local bus can do it so a van should as well.

Check the local bus times, I think there are four a day that pass the site, best to miss them
