Off lead dog walks

Can anyone give recommendations for extensive off lead dog walk areas near club sites please.

We are responsible dog owners and have enjoyed a number of club sites but find it hard work discovering  sites suitable for our dog, who needs a lot of exercise. For example Godrevy is great for many we are sure but we couldn’t let our dog off through the extensive dunes due to adders. So our stay was very frustrating to both us with the dog having to walk across this lovely terrain on the lead each day. Malvern hills again is great but there is cattle in the nearby fields and they do not like our dog, so we had to get the car out every day.

We need EHU and a toilet. Constructive answers please, he is already trained to KC silver standard and is commencing Gold training this winter.

Moderator Edit:

Not sure why this has been posted in the Certificated Location Section as this question appears to be about club site enquiries and not CLs.  Our Community Manager has asked that all topics concerning dogs on sites be restricted to the specific thread 'Dogs and Touring' in the UK Sites and Touring Section.

As an absolute dog lover, dogs off leads is a no no from me.

I'm also an avid rambler, the code is "Control" which is fine, but all too often when my little dog was with us, sadly gone, other dogs under "Control" would approach her and us with the owner saying,"Dont worry the dogs friendly".

Well mine was nervous, so that "Friendly" statement made absolutely no difference.

Extendable lead, best option all round.

Sorry to be negative, but that's my view.

Really need to know which areas you are interested in and is it club sites or CLs or both that you are interested in?

For Club sites try Clumber, Sandringham, Dunnet Bay...there are lots all over the country!!

Cirencester Park has a large dog walk area at the site itself and you can walk through to the park itself where dogs are allowed off the lead.

From Moreton in Marsh  you can access the Monarch's Way from the site and walk up to Batsford Arboretum dogs are allowed off lead through the fields. smile

Not sure if you want Club Sites or CLs, but for what it’s worth here are a few Club Sites....Yellowcraig, Hawes, Exeter Racecourse, Barnard Castle has quite a big dog field, Clumber Park, Bolton Abbey, Ferry Meadows, Sandringham, Whitehouse Beach, Bromyard Downs and lots more...

All you need to do to find some decent walks, either close to Club Sites or CLs is take a look at an OS map and check out footpaths and local terrain. You can then do a bit more research or phone sites direct to ask about dog walks. We have never had problems find great sites for our dogs to walk, but we do put in the research, and ask the right questions.

Had anyone at Godrevy actually seen any Adders? We often see warning signs at various locations in Cornwall, but have yet to spot one, or be on a site where there has been a problem. They usually like it very hot and dry, so last year might have been high risk, this year it’s wishful thinking!😁
