Are you C&CC members? We've used Kingsbury Water Park as a stopover doing almost that journey in the opposite direction. smile

Edit - also used a commercial site called Wolvey Caravan Park some years ago which might suit.

Perhaps one of the racecourse sites at Stratford upon Avon or Warwick if you went up through the Midlands?   I would do that rather than going towards the M1 after Oxford .

Warwick or Harbury, just off the M40 from Oxford and then onto the M42 towards Staffordshire and the M1. Warwick is particularly useful as you can walk up into the town for a meal if you want an easy stop over. A bit further on is Chapel Lane, off the M42. smile

We have found the M1 difficult to find 1 night stopovers.  Travelling north we have used CAMC Bladon Chains, nr Oxford & C & CC Oxford both of which are before the M1.  We have also used Poolsbrook Country Park which is well north up the M1 Nr Chesterfield.  I guess it really depends where in Dorset you are leaving from & at what time & what type of outfit you have. Traffic on some days is worse than others.  There may be CL’s somewhere near the M1 or you could try searching here. https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/

    Good luck

If you want to use a CL I can recommend Kirby Farm in Oxhill, it not far off the M40. Good pub in the village too.

Kingsbury Water Park is very near to the Peak District. Chapel Lane is also in that area.

I would look at Warwick Racecourse personally.
