Eriba Troll Bed Poles
Having had the EribaTroll only a few months and reading reports on problems with bending bed poles I contacted a dealer and asked the question the best way to avoid such a problem, having been advised to install dowels down each pole I went out and carried out the modification.
I had also noticed various problems on Eriba club sites, however within a few weeks I had the same problem.
On sending the caravan to Travelworld for its service I raised the problem along with a faulty awning light, once the service was carried out I was informed the awing light had to be approved by Hymer and hence another 70 mile round trip, but even more worrying was the fact Hymer said the bed had been made up incorrectly, how they came to this conclusion was baffling, as no pictures were sent and it had been made in tn accordance with they manual.
It seems Travelworld have no interest what so ever, and Hymer will not stand by there warranties, these poles are clearly not fit for purpose and like most dealers only interested in selling the items not providing back up to there clients.
Bad show Hymer, last one I buy!

Write to them and say they cannot support the allegation of faulty bed making as they have never seen it or photos of it. The bed was made up according to the handbook instructions and was faulty and the other reports of similar problems confirm this is a manufacturing defect. Under The Consumer Protection Act 2015 makes them as the retailer absolutely liable for the cost of rectifying the defect and unless you get an immediate acceptance of liability you will have the work carried out elsewhere and issue a small claims summons for recovery of your expenses.
Do not be fobbed off as this often happens with caravan dealers, if you need further help you can ring the clubs Legal help Line.
If you have to sue them make sure you include 8% interest and your expenses in the claim.

Other Eriba owners report that the only permanent answer is to have your dealer replace the flimsy aluminium poles with stainless steel poles which are far stronger, but of course there is then the disadvantage of extra weight.

Boris we had a 2008 Triton 430GT and that had a swing out alloy pole at one end and the bed bases rested on a shallow shelf at the other end..
On occasions the base would slip off the shelf and my dear wife would slump down. To do away with this I modified it and fitted 2 chrome steel tubes from B & Q (like you would use for towel rails etc.) across the aisle. Worked a treat and I'm no lightweight. I would think the difference between 2 alloy and 2 steel tubes is negligible. We're not talking huge sizes here I'm sure.
We've swapped now to a 2019 Triton 420GT. We couldn't deal with Travelworld at the time as they were in the process of transferring to Stafford. We decided to part ex with Automotive Leisure in Bournemouth form who we purchased the 430GT. I have to say they're head and shoulders above other dealers we've dealt with. An absolute pleasure to deal with and they are superb for knowledge and know how.
We're dealing with Travelworld at the moment over 2 very minor issues as we live withing 15 miles of them. Nice to deal with but it seems a very slow process compared with AL and I'm afraid their knowledge with Eriba seems very limited. If it's a struggle with Travelworld it looks like a holiday in Dorset again while we have the Eriba serviced at AL.
