Stowaway Cat
Imagine motoring down the A26 peage in France pulling out Eriba Troll, beautiful warm weather and looking forward to our short cycling break near Troyes. We stopped for lunch near Reims, opened the caravan and heard a faint meowing..... opened a rear under bed cupboard and out popped out cat Squish 🙈. She was extremely pleased to see us as she he’d been there for over 24hrs... I must say we were not enamoured to see her.
Oh my goodness we have imported an illegal animal into France through Belgium without the proper vaccination and passport without our knowing. What do we do???
After the initial shock and panic, we contacted our vets in the uk, who after researching for over 1 hour told us what to do. We had to find a french vet get the cat vaccinated against rabies, get her a pet passport and wait a further 21 days before bringing her back to UK. We were only away for a week.
This meant my wife flying home and me staying in France for the duration, with squish quarantined in our caravan.
A friend from Toulouse through Facebook found us a small CL style site in the Morvan region who let me stay for free as long as I did a couple of hours of gardening a day. This worked well for the first week but as temperatures rose to the high 30’s we are having to move north to find cooler weather, squish is overheating in the caravan🥵
can we we stay overnight at peage Aires with the van???? Does anyone know??

Ooh, crikey what a pussy cat! One of ours got lost once and we eventually found him in a front seat locker of our caravan, he'd been shut in after finding a nice place to sleep, but luckily that was at home. Do hope others spot this post as I'm sure they could help with suggestions. Hope you and the cat get home safely!
