I can’t speak for Scottish habits.

Septic tanks are emptied when full. The contents do not go into the water course. I think you’re confusing septic tanks and soakaways.

No, I love The Club. I’ve been a member for over 30 years and we stay on club sites for approximately three weeks a year. I love the security and safety, the cleanliness etc.  I have come across one or two horrible wardens as have I come across more who are angels. Not a rant at all.  Just a genuine question as to why we cannot put our genuine grey water, with no food, ‘body fats’ or anything else straight back into the ground beneath us.

I’m not confused.  Septic tanks do not get emptied!  They remain full, that’s how they work.   Bacteria build up.  They do discharge into watercourses and never get emptied. In any case...where do you think a soakaway drains to?   I’ll give you a clue...  It soaks away,  into the watercourse where the ground filters it.  You’re welcome 👍

Why the digs about Wi-fi and pitching if you think the club is wonderful? Make your mind up.

I'm glad you appreciate the cleanliness of the sites. Let’s not spoil that by chucking mucky water on the pitches, eh?

Whatever you might do responsibly on a pitch, as I stated some while back, you cannot guarantee what others might do. Therefore, it makes complete sense to ban the dumping of grey water on pitches.

    Now we've gone full circle.

"I find it strange that caravanners have no hesitation or questions in pitching on an area of gravel or grass that numerous dogs could have recently soiled with urine and excrement, and yet baulk at the thought of grey water which has rinsed a couple of teeth and a cup or two. We have neighbours on site who have five large dogs in a penned off area instead of an awning. The owners remove the faeces but do not appear to exercise the pack - who are allowed to soil the area at will."

Well you certainly win first prize for the most convoluted method of introducing a moan about dogs, SC. Well done, but I fail to see the relevance to your OP! frown

Hello! It was to point out that when previous members grey water being under a caravan or awning is met with gnashing of teeth, that no one considers the worse stuff that they may be setting up home on top of.

Mmmm .... now where have we heard a "Scottish Caravanner (turned Motorhomer") mention Jeremy Kyle before? Is he big north of the border? laughing

The comments (not digs) about Wifi are, in my opinion fully justified. They are ‘The Club’, not  ‘They Who Shall Not be Questioned’.  However, as previously stated there is another thread for that.

Make my mind up about what?   I’m allowed, as a fee paying member to freely state what I am and am not, happy about.    Careful now....better make sure Big Brother isn’t listening...or  👀

I'm not sure, SC, why you've said "interested in the views of other members" and "any thoughts" and then been so dismissive and rude about those other members not agreeing with you?

Still, you're not the first, and I doubt you'll be the last!

Well, you sure remind me of *someone*.

I notice you didn’t comment on my remark about your finding the sites clean so you must have rethought that issue.

No *soapy* water to be found, then.

Btw, I agree the Wi-fi is appalling so I don’t buy it.

    Dismissive and rude? Really?

Gosh, I genuinely thought I was simply holding my own.  Apart from perhaps one cheeky comment to someone who has not a scooby what I was on about.

Apologies if I have been dismissive and rude. Must be the Scot in me coming to the fore.

As suspected this thread was started as  a "wind up"because  if you do not know what body fats are then it seems you really do need to talk to any of your offspring or OH about the basics of what makes up the human bodysurprised

I didn’t comment because I was referring to the toilet and shower block - not the pitches per se. Again, how can grey water make a pitch unclean? It’s water!

I notice you didn’t comment on my remarks regarding water courses and soak always.  I take it you have re thought that issue?

So, you think the fats and lipids that make up our body, along with a large percentage of water and other things...come OFF when we wash in our caravan sink??

maybe I need to stop putting on the goose grease every day.  But it’s so cold in Scotland!

That would have been a comment on cleanliness. Nope, I think you meant the whole site. QED.

I haven’t seen your other post. I’ll go search.

It sure would be but then i would not want you to be embarased any more about your lack of "knowledge?" of what and how waste water on pitches is very bad for both the pitches and other more sensible members who want to use the pitch after your "ideawink?"

How does the Body get rid of fat??  According to Google, it turns out, most of it is exhaled. In a new study, scientists explain the fate of fat in a human body, and through precise calculations, debunk some common misconceptions. Fat doesn't simply "turn into" energy or heat, and it doesn't break into smaller parts and get excreted through poo, the researchers say.

oops.  I guess I’ll have to  stop my annoying habit of breathing down my sink.

    What’s not to like?

To put it simply, a septic tank discharges treated water into the ground. When solids build up, the tank is emptied by pumping it out.

If it is so clean (this grey water) why not try drinking it, or washing with it?
