I picked up my very first motorhome today, July 8th 2019, from the dealers so it’s been a very exciting day! It’s quite an oldish CI Carioca 15 but it’s in very good nick and after a run through with the dealer about how things work, I’ve booked  the first trip out this weekend at Ferry Meadows near Peterborough, and I’m just hoping I remember everything I was told about the operational side of things. As the van is a Carioca it’s been christened Carrie, which was my grandmothers name. The Ferry Meadows site has very good reviews and I’m really looking forward to a couple of days there. Wish me luck!

I had a lovely time at Ferry Meadows and was very impressed with the site and the facilities. Everyone I met was so friendly and helpful and I felt at ease on my very first trip. I did have one bit of bother soon after I had pitched up. I hooked up to the electric ok, then turned on the gas, then I tried turned on the kitchen tap but there was no water coming through. I had previously put some water in the fresh water tank before I pitched up, so there was definitely water on board. There was no handbook or manual with this motorhome but I went to the control panel and pressed the tap icon, it didn’t light up and I thought it was dead. I resigned myself to the fact that this trip was going to be a disaster! Anyway I thought there must be a switch somewhere to activate the water pump, but where? I decided to ring the dealers who sold me the motorhome and explained my predicament, how do I get water through the taps? The salesman I had dealt with was busy, aren’t they all, but I was put through to another salesman, Neil, who wasn’t familiar with my control panel so I photographed it and sent a picture to his mobile. After looking at different things he told me to switch on the lights first, which worked and then press the tap icon. It lit up and there was a whirring sound, and then I had water through the taps! Hooray! I liked Ferry Meadows a lot so I’m going back this weekend, a little more wiser!
