More entertaining than many of the men’s games and some cracking goals as well

Not only entertaining, the girls actually keep playing to the final whistle, even when 3-0 up they looked to be wanting another goal.

Put the boys and the way they play the game to shame.

Totally agree with OP, amazing and entertaining game.

Well done the Lionesses - you showed your male counterparts what commitment means and the pride in wearing an England shirt.

Been an excellent tournament all round, one or two dodgy refs, but overall very good. Huge viewing figures around the World, just what Women’s Football needed. The England team were very good against Norway. I had quite fancied Norway up to that point, but not any more!

The pundits have been good as well, not too much rattle and analysis.

TTDA,  could that be because they are standing around the table , and not sitting in comfy seats thinking how clever they must be ??

P.S.  I am in total agreement with you, of course !!

Possibly. It’s good to see reviews of goals and near misses, but as someone female who has a keen interest in football, I find that MOTD is too full of analysis, and it’s got a bit of a Boy’s Own Club now with the resident pundits. Women are less bothered about all the what ifs, and why didn’t they do this, that and other. Dionne Dublin has been very good, but great to see mostly female presenters. The prima donnas are refreshingly absent from the Women’s game. And a whole lot more subtle in terms of getting stuck in! 😁

Other than crazy Cameroon it’s been played with respect & professionalism. I think England have the skills to dump the USA out👍🏻

Hope so Rocky. They looked a tad shaky against France. Cameroonians were playing a different game if you ask me. All credit to England Women for staying calm and focussed. Referee wasn’t strong enough.

If the tactics of Cameroon are allowed to continue unchecked the Women’s game will become as annoying as the men’s😕. The skill, the speed & the play has proved a big draw, it will bring in more revenue & grow the game. Right now it is well worth watching, the men’s game for me is not. The USA have Megan Rapinoe, England have a few Rapinoes that have a hunger for the win👍🏻

What a shame so close, heads up and high they really did do a proud job.

Just a tad outclassed no shame. Congratulations should be afforded to a super team.

    +1, twocals.

They shewed a flaw or two but that's what a good coach will get them working on before the 2020 OLYMPICS for which they have qualified by virtue of performances in this competition.

Just need a little more 'nous' at team level on the pitch as well as individually, perhaps even upgrade their stamina a shade then who knows - perhaps we, sorry that should be they embarassed, might be playing USA for that Olympic Gold  smile.

Must add that the USA were the better team, as they have proved all thro' the tournament so may the best team take the title on Sunday !

P.S. / edit --  How pleasant to see, despite the delays etc, how little fuss was made by the two teams over the V A R decisions --  Well done to both teams -- now teach the male players how to behave, please !wink

Yet again England lost because they cannot convert penalties.

Neville gives them belief, that belief needs to be converted into play & goals. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this World Cup, I watched England take Norway apart by belief, determination & skill. Last night the USA were England & England were Norway. The Lonesses had no answer for the USA who brought their A game then their A+ game. Sadly last night England Women played like England Men.

Saw the 2nd semifinal 'tween Netherlands & Sweden tonight.

The Lionesses would have beaten the pair of 'em --  no ifs or buts !

Sadly the Best Match of the tournament was last night !

Now I'm not really a round ball fan and only bother to watch with mild interest the national team (men) when involved in either the European or World cups. But this ladies competition has been different, I've been extremely surprised and entertained. However, the quality of last night's game was a long way off that seen in the England v USA game. That in my opinion should have been the final. If the USA keep it up, I'm pretty sure they will, such is their professionalism, breeze it as should England for 3rd place.

Im not really 'qualified' to comment on the standard of refereeing or the use of VR but I listened with interest at what the 'pundits' were saying about the very best refs, regardless of gender probably should have been used. It was also interesting to listen to their thoughts of making the goal smaller for the ladies. To me the teams involved seemed pretty good in dealing with what was currently the stipulation.

Not too sure about the size of the goals, Micky, 'cos I've heard both sides of this argument from the Ladies and even they seemed to agree to disagree undecided. But the one improvement they have made is in the 1 Metre gap between attack & defence at free kicks.  It cut out lots of pushing & shoving allowing for more intelligent plays in the penalty area without stopping the game being a 'contact sport'.

With respect to the refs, they'll never win no matter how good they are, at least not until they all learn to walk on water  wink

Most unlikely, I would have thought, Micky, but that'll be to the 'men's games' disadvantage innocent

Why would anyone want a smaller goal?, it’s the goals that excite, the goals(winning) that the whole team strive for. I struggle with the smaller goal concept☹️

I don't know either but 'some' are suggesting it would be helpful for a variety of reasons. The notion underpinning this is that the male goal was determined using the average size of the male and the same should apply to the female goal. Their average size being significantly smaller. Well that's the science behind these 'arguments'.

It’d surprise me if the women are pushing for disparity, after centuries of being classed as lesser beings. From what I’ve seen then I’d suggest their games are better/more entertaining than the men’s games👍🏻. Don’t change a thing👏🏻👏🏻

The England Women did very well, and I strongly suspect that they might have beaten both Sweden and the Netherlands. But the USA team were and are a class apart. Excellent ball skills, remain cool and composed under pressure, and their fitness is top class. However, they have one or two prima donnas who like to go down at the slightest brush, Morgan in particular. (As an ex hockey player, she’d have got more than a mere brush from me😡) England gave them a good game, had bad luck with the disallowed goal. But if I was Phil Neville, I would get my old mate Gareth to talk to them about penalties.......woeful and obviously needs work. Gareth got the men sorted with penalty taking, some of the Women clearly have confidence issues.

I think USA will walk the Final, they are the current holders and will be happy to have seen off England. But fingers crossed for Netherlands, who are European Champions, and no push over.

Full credit to BBC for showing the whole tournament. For anyone interested, they are going to show World Netball Championships next, Phil Neville’s Sister is England coach......catch, land, step, shoot.......bring it on!😁

    Rocky & Micky,

I think it's only 'some'  folk asking for smaller goals. Hoping against hope 'some' folk are soon relegated to history ( personal view )

I'm not a statistics bloke, but I reckon that when the game evolved as we know it, the men were a lot smaller than they are now. Probably no bigger / taller than the women are now I guess undecided

Just think for a moment how, over the last fifty / sixty years, a breed of young giants has sprung up surprised. I used to be of 'average height' at 5ft 11ish - now I've become a blooming dwarf in comparison embarassed. So rather than shrinking the women's goals perhaps they should be thinking of increasing the size of the goals for the men ??
