Hi everyone, I just purchased my first Ford transit conversion. Basically a two berth with kitchen and toilet. It is still registered as a van on the V5 so I am wondering the best insurance to purchase and breakdown cover. I will be using it in two weeks for the NC500 and once home I will change the inside with more mod cons etc.

Will I be okay accessing sites for overnight stays as I have been reading I may need an electrical certificate.

If there is anyone in the central belt who I could bounce ideas of I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Richard

You could always check with the DVLA ( ?? DVLC ??) at Swansea or on line to find what additions / adaptations are needed to qualify for Motorhome Registration.

Where did you buy it from - Converter or another user. If it was the converter perhaps they could help.

I've no knowledge of any 'electrical certificate' required for booking sites.

    Hi Richard.

In your position I would get the V5 changed ASAP as you will be stuck with van speed limits otherwise. Check out the DVLA website.

You will not need an electrical test certificate on club sites but the world and his wife are currently doing the NC500 so you may not get on sites without booking.
