We are just starting the final week of our four-week, two-centre early summer holiday on the Côte d’Azur. We took just over a week to get down to Cavalaire sur Mer, but we diverted to the Savoie for a family visit, and we spent a weekend by the river at Tain l’Hermtage.

At Cavalaire the weather was sunny and warm ( mid twenties) by day, but slightly chilly by night which suited us just fine. Cath has to keep covered up because of her meds, but she managed the first paddle of 2019.

From the campsite we walked to the beach and promenade, and to the harbour to watch the boats coming and going.

image

Our site was within easy walking distance of the main street and all the shops you could need.

image

It’s just around the corner from the Wednesday market.

imagePosters advertised European Dart Championship – but it turned out to be a catamaran class.

image

We supported Jo and his dad who had travelled down for the week from Lincolnshire to compete. They arrived on site to pitch their tent in the only downpour we’ve had!

image

After two weeks we said goodbye to our pitch at Camping de La Baie

and moved on to our second centre – St Clair. Our campsite is just 100 metres from the small bay with its beach, bistros and small hotels.

image

The site is quieter and more secluded than the site at Cavalaire.

The nearest big centre is a Le Lavandou just over and around the headland.

image

It’s a bit of a struggle for us now but we’ve made it to the Thursday market so Cath could add to her collection of ‘fun’ 6€ watches. We’ve sussed the bus service so we’ve paid the 3€ each just for the 5 minute bus ride back.

Le Lavandou has all the shops et cetera you might need. It has a marina, ferry port and a long promenade and beach.

image

Back at St Clair we had a very windy Friday with waves crashing on the deserted beach.

image

By Saturday, the fine weather returned and we’ve both been in swimming. The water temperature is around 20C – quite refreshing.

Just one more week, then we begin our journey back to summer in UK.

Oh dear, oh dear I think I might be tempted by those cakes, maybe even a "grande!" Sounds and looks like a lovely holiday, all noted for future reference. Best wishes to you both. smile

Thank you all for your nice comments. We keep wondering if this could be our last trip this far south as neither we, nor our 'van, are getting any younger!

Since we started 15 years and 160,000 miles ago, we've always carried a compact digital camera with us to record our travels. We store thumbnails on Flickr, now Picasa is closed, and use the 'Peedee drag and drop' method to put them into our stories.

Glad you had a great time, piccies look great - we were at Camping de la Baie in May, but only for a few nights, Cavalaire a good place for a mobility scooter user (me).  We escaped from wet Italy to sunny south of France, lovely.
