Hi i wondered if anyone has any advise on the best campsite to have an overnight stay on route to cornwall from Lincolnshire. I had heard one in weston- super - mere was good but don't know which one or if any others around half way point or a bit further down ??? We will be towing a caravan not tenting it. We don't fancy a service station really.

Thank you

    Hi

There is a site just outside Chippenham in Wiltshire which I have been told is very nice. It is very close to the M4 and is in a nice village location. Web page is here: http://ploughlane.co.uk/

I live in Chippenham so have not stayed there myself!

What route are you using, evie?

Plough Lane is indeed a very good site with easy access from and back onto the motorway (M4), but is adult only if that's a factor. I think they may have a minimum stay at peak times as well.

Plough Lane, Chippenham is very nice but be aware it is adult only so no good if you have children with you.

The area around Weston-S-Mare and Burnham right down to Taunton is littered with camp sites of all types. There are club sites - Hurn Lane and Cadeside, for instance, numerous CLs and commercial sites.

Try the club's site search and see what takes your fancy. There’s no need at all to use a dreaded motorway service area.

Edit: Cross posted with you, M. Great minds.

I've just done a very quick CL search and Dutch Court Farm, just off the M5 near Highbridge might fit the bill. But there are many others as TW says.

    Good luck! smile

Searching https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/index.asp may help jog your memory regarding the Weston S'Mare site.

Something to bear in mind as your avatar does not show as member (on my laptop) CAMC's sites will most likely cost more than advertised on here and CL's are for members only.   Good luck and enjoy your time away.

    Well spotted, JO.

If not a member, CLs are out and not all club sites take non-members.

Look at Ashe Farm Camping and Caravanning - near Taunton, and 3 miles from junction 25 of M5. Open to all . No membership needed. Details and prices on their own website.

Thank you everyone so far ...I will have a child and a dog with me. I will be a member of the camhc by then too. Just wondered if anyone had stayed at one or know anyone that has just as an overnight stop over just off the m5 near Bristol /Western Super mere. Not all camp sites like one nighters. I want to stop half way ish then set off in the morning. It will be a Thursday night 😁
