Al-Ko ATC working brake lights?

While towing on a busy A road I felt the Al-Ko ATC pull on thanks to a very large pothole. As it slowed the car and caravan slightly I did wonder if the system works the caravan brake lights to warn the following vehicle that we were reducing speed, or, if not, do I have to hope the following driver is alert, and not tailgating?

The caravan brake lights are operated by the car brakes and lights while the ATC is a stand alone system so the answer is, no, your caravan brake lights would not have illuminated.

Thanks for the info. Just have to hope any following driver is fully concentrating.

As we all do every time we take to the road. Easing off the throttle also causes a vehicle to slow without operating brake lights so no real difference there.

The brake effect is very brief and just enough to stabilise the outfit. There should be no danger but it is reassuring to know the ATC is working.

Try towing at 30/40 mph on some roads (usually B roads) which have severe camber change or a "bouncy " section and it should be apparent that the atc is working !!!!!

Do single track B roads around the Lakes/Penrith, not much wider than my caravan, not count? 😁

driving style and faulty device are not to blame.Try the road from Newton stuart to Bladnoch!
